The Hair Loss Process Experienced In Both Men and Women
The hair loss process
Hair loss for men is a progressive process as they get older. For some men, the hair loss process is really slow and as a result, barely noticeable. While for others, it’s as obvious as it can get and severe even at a young age. The balding pattern is usually distinctive and could follow reproducible patterns affecting three major areas of the scalp which will be explained below. The hair loss might be evident with the process relative in nature around those areas and varying in its pattern of progression.
The first area is the temple which starts at the anterior hairline with it moving backward gradually. This usually occurs in varying degrees to all boys as they progress from adolescence to full manhood with just a few older males retaining the straight anterior hairline by luck. The hair loss in this area is usually mild.
The second type occurs at the crown of the head, hair loss starts around the whorl (the area at the back of the head) and moves in various directions to create a circular bald impression. Another smaller balding occurs at the 6’0 clock border in other men.
The third one involves a general thinning over the mid-frontal scalp (the top of the head) and is usually noticed at the widening of the central part of the line. This type of balding is more synonymous with Asian men and also the main type of hair loss experienced by women as they age.
One might begin to think there is a chemical or hormone whose presence in each damaged follicle may be responsible for the balding process but no such chemical has been discovered up to date. It becomes even more baffling to know that hairs adjacent a spreading bald area when transplanted to different areas of the body are still miniaturized as if they had previously been growing on the scalp.
All these can only leave us concluding that the hair miniaturization process responsible for shrinking the hair is one that might have already been programmed into an individual's hair follicle DNA rather than been triggered as a result of a chemical.
Asides the general patterns of balding/hair loss, another type was discovered which is the invisible pattern where the hair thins first before the actual balding takes places. In this situation, the hair volume could be reduced up to half without any visible spot. This is why women tend to notice they are experiencing hair loss when the thickness of their ponytail begins to reduce or there exists an increase in the rate at which their hair begins to shed.
For men, they may find it difficult to notice the gradual hair loss because their hair is usually shorter than that of females making the hair loss only evident when an actual bald spot exists.
You should also be aware that in most cases, hair loss is usually hereditary and as a result, there is no known cure for it. However, the process can be slowed down medically through various treatments.
