Lets talk. What are you breathing?

So while I ask what do you breath in 24/7? and many will say air, I would have to disagree. I mean Air is a mix of gaseous elements such as Oxygen (21%), Nitrogen (78%) and other elements such an Neon, Carbon dioxide and hydrogen. But its not the only thing you drag into you body each breath. Up until recent events most people never considered the health of their lungs from what they breath in. What are you breathing in? Look around you where you are. If you have a filtered furnace in your home go see what lurks in the air of your home. Try taking a carbon monoxide detector while sitting idling in traffic or in a tunnel. Wear a mask for a day outside and see what sticks to it. All those macro and microparticles are everywhere whether its dust, pollution, soot, dust from dirty roads or wind kicking up dirt. You breathe it all in. But our lungs are a machine and while these particulate invaders come into our body uninvited our nose filters the larger pieces and the hair in our upper part if our lungs traps and gets rid of the smaller ones. So there is no problem you think, wrong. These particles over repeated time can scar the lungs and damage them. Invisible gases such as carbon monoxide and finer particles like asbestos will threaten your health. Manufacturing and building uses toxic materials that slowly release toxic gases in homes that can affect the most sensitive. Aerosol particulates like fragrances and perfumes also affect the lungs when breathed in. While most of us are “ok” with all this over time the effects are unknown unless you have an allergy or are asthmatic. But thats another blog post. So ask yourself when you finally take that mask off what am I breathing in today?
