Hunger is familiar to almost everyone: people starve in the name of thin waist, some are forced by the circumstances, others just forget to eat during a busy day. Here are 3 facts about hunger:
More than 1/8 of the world is starving:
Many people go to sleep at night being hungry. That is not because they want to get slimmer or in a better shape... Food shortage refers to more than 1 billion people. The most hungry country in the world is South Sudan - 70% of it's population does not feed properly. Next is Kenya with 51% starving inhabitants and 3rd is Nigeria with 47%. Meanwhile statistics showed that it would be enough to feed whole Africa with the food thrown away by prospering countries.
Human can survive without food for 40 days:
Studies have shown that an adult who is not under high physical load can possibly survive without any food for 40 days.
Three-day starvation stimulates immunity:
Scientists got to that particular conclusion by conducting a specialized study. Recovery is due to the big amount of stem cell division which is occurring during the process. Also, the enzyme responsible for aging and growth hormone are significantly decreasing it's concentration in our body.
