Why do towels get dirty even when we use them after showering?

Ever wondered why towels get dirty after showering ?

The idea is this: If we take a shower to get clean, and use a towel to dry ourselves off after the shower, then why should towel get dirty right ?

The towel shouldn’t get dirty because our body is not supposed to be dirty after the shower (clean behind your ears).

BUT ARE WE 100% "CLEAN" AFTER SHOWERING ?
Actually i would agree not.

First off, there is no way we can clean every nook and cranny

Secondly - Let's talk about how body soaps work.
The function of the average shower gel is to soften and loosen the dead cells off of your skin (in case you didn’t know, there are several layers of dead skin cells on your arms, legs, stomach, neck, etc..).

So when you are showering, the soap knocks those layers loose and the water washes MOST of it away, but NOT all.

When you use your towel to dry off, you’re not only transferring water to the towel, but also some dead skin cells and other bacteria/germs that might be hanging out in the nooks and cracks that you missed (and behind your ears).

BUT WAIT THAT IS NOT ALL!!
If you agree with me so far think of this

Now your towel has skin cells and water on it, and it is hanging there bring a perfect breeding ground for bacteria.

Naturally, the bacteria/germs floating around in the air land on the towel and eat the dead skin cells and drink the water in order to multiply… next thing you know, your towel is starting to smell like mildew!

Some Microorganisms are beneficial while some are harmful. The beneficial ones produce or provide mechanism(s) useful to the body and if they are found lacking one may need to be admitted into a hospital.

This is part of the reason why some antiseptics kill 99% of germ and not 100% or 100.1% :)
Now, we know that the body can’t be totally free from Microorganisms, it has become obvious that rubbing your towel on your body after a bath could mean getting Microorganisms from your body into your towel which automatically makes it “unclean”.

*Note that It’s quite easy to get germs from a wet surface than from a dry one.

I hope we ain't blunt on why towels get dirty after washing
