Shielding Children from harmful Pesticides and giving them a healthy life
In the recent times use of Pesticides have increased to a very large extent in crops and consumer products. Well these effects of chemicals is not good for anyone. We are seeing rise of so many unheard diseases and ailments which leaves us clueless as to what is happening to the human immune systems. The Auto immune diseases are at a rise drastically leaving our body completely prone to infections damaging the entire immune systems. The rise of Cancer patients, Organ damages, Breathing and Nervous system ailments, Physical disabilities, everything is at a rise. If all this can make an adult so weak and fragile imagine what impact can it bring to the children not only on their physical body but also on the brain development.

For Children in their critical stages of development if good care is not taken it can leave them with lifelong health problems impacting their brain and body destroying their learning abilities. As responsible parents it is very important to keep our children healthy and the most important factors in this is the diet and the surrounding that we give to our children.
There are certain things which we can easily do to keep our children safe; like:
Monitor the play area of Children: If any of these have been pesticide treated it is important to keep the child away till the time the place completely dries up.
Eat Organic food: Our diet is the most important thing, not only for children but for adults also. Foods without use of antibiotics, pesticides, chemical fertilizers and preservatives is something best suited for everyone. To increase the production and make the fruits and vegetables look more attractive or even the meat to make it look big and fleshy a lot of antibiotics and chemicals are used which then gets into our body and slowly gradually kills our immune systems. also it is very important to wash any eatable item before consumption.
Check on Drinking water: The pH level needs to be checked for the drinking water. The safe levels would be between 6.5 to 7.5, too much acidic or alkaline water will not be good for anyone to drink. Hence it is important to check the pH level of our drinking water. The another important thing to check in water is the fluoride level which should be as minimal as possible.
Use of Pesticides at home: We are regularly using certain pesticides at home for cleaning purpose, the disinfectants, sanitizers, repellents which can be harmful for children. It is very important to keep it away from children, out of their reach. Also Pet products contain pesticides which needs to be kept out of children's reach.

It is not always that only through mouth consumption does the damage happen, but the dangerous chemicals will also be absorbed through the skin and with breathing. Hence a healthy environment for all the family members is very important. We need to ensure that our children exposure is nil or minimal.

Well written article. I have seen people eating fruits directly after purchase without washing it. Some people when they walk to purchase something from the market, they have this habit of eating fruits and vegetables directly without cleaning it.
We all know that all the fruit items available in the market are not organic. The amount of pesticides and insecticides on the outer surface of a fruit is very high and even at times it doesn't get fully cleaned in spite of washing them. So we have to have it as a practice to wash anything before we consume.
Especially these mistakes happen in fruit juice shops as well. We have to be careful.

Ohh yes that is a very common practice I have observed. specially when children go to the market with their mothers they tend to do this, just pick up something and give it to the child to eat which is so very wrong. Thank you for stopping by Bala.
Pesticides are the reason why I am very concerned with buying veggies and fruits on the supermarket which is also the reason why my wife is starting her own little garden at our backyard.
This is the best way to eat you cant be sure about the veggies that are available in market.
That's the best to do these days @henlyfutton. If you have a good garden space it should be put to best use.
It's better to have a garden and grow veggies and fruits there on your own. :)
That's the best one can do.
A lot of farmers has been using pesticides on the food that we are eating which has a harmful effect for everyone that's why most of the consumers decided to have their own garden.
Having an own garden is very good but when we live in cities in high rises this is one big challenge.
Natural/organics for the win!!! :)
Thank you
Very good article. The thing is that humans are been led away from earth and have lost contact with her . This way origianl seeds are gone and now we count on hybrids even if they are grown organically . Your advices are good but the truth is , you can't be sure waht you really consume..
Yes we are losing our connecting with mother earth and depleting our resources like anything. It is very difficult to trust what you get in market as Organic that's right but still it is safer to buy then the regular stuff. If you can get it from some reliable accredited source then that's the best.
Organic food are rare ...but still it is good to have safety foods at home and prevent kids from too much of chemical exposure

Most vegetables in the market today are sprayed with pesticides but if want to eat a pesticide-free vegetables we just have to grow it ourselves @nainaztengra
I believe that most foods today causes illnesses especially the processed and packaged foods. Vigilance in what we eat is what we have to do in order to avoid food-caused diseases.
That's true, the number of illnesses are at a rise majorly due to the quality of food we are consuming.
the higher the number on the sticker on produce...the better.
so 9 is good...3's are at the liquor stores and gas stations. lol

We want to eat organic food but availability is less than demand.
Now a days I don't see that much of a challenge. Almost every place has a organic market and it has become much simpler to get then what it used to be couple of years back.
Agree, but few offline markets are available and they don't keep all organic vegetable. Sometime bigbasket provides few organic vegetable.
Which part of India are you from?
In Mumbai there is a Organic market somewhere in Bandra that happens every sunday, may be in other cities too it must be happening, you may just need to do some google work. Yes I too mostly rely on BB, quite convenient.
I live in City of joy (Kol)
