Major Sources of Essential Nutrients
I've been writing about how to eat food properly and focusing on various essential nutrients. In case you missed any of the posts, you can check my blog and read all the posts on how to eat food. I'm going to continue with useful information about the essential nutrients.
So, you might be wondering how possible it will be for you to pack all these essential nutrients into your meal. Obviously, this will take time and effort but you don't have to worry, there are easier ways of getting them on a daily basis with little effort and that's what I'll explain in this part.
First I need you to understand that you don't have to adhere to a particular diet of list of fruits and foods in order to get a healthy diet. You can even get a good dose of essential nutrients that your body needs with each meal by adhering to a diet that is filled with lots of fruits, whole foods, lean proteins, vegetables, a few servings of fish weekly and whole grains.
Also, there are some foods that are nutrient-dense and are capable of supplying you with a quality amount of micronutrients when served. You can consider some meals like:
- Peachy super kale shake
- Fish tacos on lettuce wraps
- Almond butter banana protein bars
- Fruit kabobs and
- Omega blueberry smoothie
It's possible to get all the required nutrients from foods alone, however, in the event that you need an extra boost, then consider taking multivitamin in order to meet your needs. You can consult your doctor if you're in doubt of the best one to take.
The Difference between Essential and Non-Essential Nutrients
As earlier mentioned, the body has six essential nutrients which includes:
- Vitamins
- Carbohydrates
- Proteins
- Water
- Fats and
- Minerals
Also, fats, carbs and protein are known as macronutrients and they are the major category of nutrients that can be broken down further into some micronutrients that are very crucial to the health of our body. So, a simple way to explain what essential nutrients are is that they cannot be produced by the human body. In order to provide these nutrients to your body, you need to get them from other means. On the other hand, it is possible to synthesize and absorb nonessential nutrients from food.

Having given a brief explanation of the difference between essential and nonessential nutrients, it's important to state here that food source of essential nutrients which can be obtained through whole food sources remains the best way to get your essential nutrients.
Always consult your doctor before taking supplements especially for those having certain health conditions. Also, remember that moderation is vital when choosing your food. An essential nutrient is not necessarily better, for instance taking too much carbohydrates may result in the increase in blood sugar while you can also experience a health condition known as water intoxication when you take too much water.
So, always remember that essential nutrients are very important to your health and help to sustain your body. They can also enable your body to develop, grow and function properly. All it takes to get the essential nutrients is to eat a well-balanced diet that is rich in vegetables, lean proteins, fruits and whole grains.
