Hello guys!
  Today we are going to talk about health, decentralization and freedom. I am able to talk about this because of a recent study that I found from the National Toxicology Program (NTP). They recently released a very robust study on male rats developing heart tumors following high radiofrequency level of exposure (as the one  used in 2G and 3G cell phones). We are going to talk about why this really matters and how the internet revolution can prevent future health tragedies at the same time of protecting our freedom, creativity and privacy. So lets start! 

I- About the study on male rats

For those of you who want to know more about the research, the source of it is here. Now for those who do not know, the NTP conducts experiments on rodents in an attempt to clarify potential harmful effects on human from radio wave based application such as 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi etc ... In this study, they specifically followed the same type of signal modulation as used in 2G and 3G based devices, but increased the exposure levels and duration. For instance, the lowest exposure level was equal to the maximum used in 2G/3G compatible phones and the highest exposure level was equal to 4 times the latter.

The results were as follows:

• a clear evidence of heart tumors in male rats 
• Some evidence of brain tumors in male rats
• Some evidence of tumors in the adrenal glands of male rats

A summary of the results can be found here. Note that this is a comprehensive study that took more than 10 years to be completed and used about $30 million in terms of funding. So we are clearly talking about something big. Also, note that this comprehensive study does not include at all radiofrequency exposure from Wi-Fi or 4G/5G, as they require completely different signal modulation techniques. Now that I have given some background about the study, let's see in details why this really matters.

II- Why this study matters?

First of all, this study is the most comprehensive study ever done on radiation exposure from 2G/3G communication. Also, even though the study does not include 5G and Wi-Fi communication, it is important to remind everyone that most cell phones nowadays still have 2G/3G antennas as stated here (in the summary section). 

Now that we have validated concerns about radiofrequency exposure from 2G/3G we have to be very worried about new communication systems like 4G, 5G, Wi-Fi. I think it's at least fair to ask whether or not our health is not at risk here. Gunter Pauli, the creator of the Blue economy reminds us in his new Li-Fi book that the World Health Organization (WHO) requires a radio frequency exposure level of less than 620 mV per meter/square. As explained in his book, with all the devices that we carry these days (phones, laptop, i-pad etc ...) are we certain that we are not getting exposed to a higher radiation limit? Also, in crowded places such as hospitals that use a lot of devices are we certain that the patients are not getting too much exposed?

For all the reasons cited above, this  is why this study matters. But there is a new solution that is emerging and that is faster and more secure than all of those radio frequency based applications and it is called the internet with light aka Li-Fi!

III- The Li-Fi, an internet revolution that will change and save many people's lives.

The Li-Fi is not harmful in terms of radiation and can provide and internet connection 252 times faster than 5G technologies!!! This can be very awesome for gamers, businesses, Blockchain, hospitals etc ... 

Li-Fi technology is based on light signal from LED lamps and Fiber Optic Networks that efficiently relay the signal. The Li-Fi is not hackable, because literally, it requires your hacker to physically directly interfere between your communicating device and the diode from your LED. This means that you can be your own security and won't have to rely on a third party. For all of those reasons, I truly see the Li-Fi as a decentralized internet technology that is very efficient and harmless at the same time.

Now let's see how everyone can contribute to this internet revolution.

IV- How to join the internet revolution?

It is important to remind everyone that the Li-Fi adoption is not a fairy tale, and that it is already happening! There are already many Li-Fi based companies such as OLEDCOMM or purelifi. There are already many implemented applications such as a hospital in Perpignan, France that is using Li-Fi or at the musee d'Issy, France. More informations about those here.

At an individual level, everyone can contribute by following the latest innovations on Li-Fi. Every year, there is a global Li-Fi summit were the latest improvements are shown. Another way is to follow the twitter of many important people in the Li-Fi field such as Suat Topsu or Gunter Pauli. Another way to support the Li-Fi adoption in my opinion is to support small Fiber Optic Network related businesses. Indeed, I think that they will play a major key role to make the Li-Fi adoption robust enough for a large use.
