Taking care of a child's brain: a practical guide for parents

in #health6 years ago

How to take care of a child's brain? As parents we give a lot of importance to the education of our children. For example, it seems perfectly normal and natural for us to teach our children the basics of good body and dental hygiene. On the other hand, we often forget to take care of the brains of our little ones, which is important so that they grow up well and become balanced, healthy and happy people. We can all learn some tips and tricks to take care of a child's brain .

Why is it so important to learn how to take care of a child's brain? The brain is our most important organ, and we know that with age it ages and deteriorates. The incidence of dementia and stroke is increasing as we get older and has even become one of the biggest scourges in our society, causing high levels of addiction. The good news is that we now know how to take care of our brains and prevent them from aging, or at least delaying it. The problem is that we do not care about all this until we are in our fifties. It is then that we eagerly seek information on how to take care of our brains and begin to put into practice the general recommendations.

Would not it be better to start taking care of our brains since childhood?
The answer to this ultimate question is obviously YES.
In the same way that we teach our children to brush their teeth three times a day, we need to teach them the habits that will help them to have a healthier brain, from their earliest years.

Teaching our children self-control, and teaching them to wait for a reward, will exercise the frontal lobe of the brain and allow them to have a better reaction to each situation: they will be able to control themselves when they need it, and to relax and entertain in other times. "To have happy children, instead of arranging for the wind to always blow in their favor, we must teach them how to navigate in the middle of a storm", this is a sentence on which it is worth thinking about. One of the hardest things for a parent is to see their child suffer, but we have to let them get by at times if we want them to be independent and to be able to manage their emotions in the long run.

Warning!!! This does not mean that we have to leave them on their own to learn how to navigate in a storm. All you have to do is give them some space to make their mistakes, to feel a little frustrated and to be able to cope with them, always staying by their side.
