The jealousy is one of the most dangerous and destructive feelings that can upset the life of a couple. This is a problem that affects and poisons not only the existence of the person who experiences it but also that of the person or persons whom it concerns. Paradoxically, jealousy can succeed in achieving the goal it claims to avoid, that is to say, the breakup of the couple.

Pathological jealousy can end up destroying relationships.

Natural or pathological jealousy

However, we must clearly differentiate "natural" jealousy from pathological jealousy. The first is that we can all feel and suffer at one time or another in our relationship if we are confronted with the fear of losing the loved one or the risk of being left alone. In the same way, certain situations can fill us with doubts and that, of justified form. In these cases, jealousy can be a kind of useful and effective warning signal.

The second form of jealousy, that is, pathological jealousy, includes all those unjustified feelings that can turn the life of the jealous person into a real hell of a doubt. This person will constantly need to know where the other is, what he does, who he is with, etc. The jealousy can, obviously, be lived in the family relations or between friends but it is in the life of a couple that it manifests with the most intensity.

Focus on pathological jealousy

The person who experiences pathological jealousy has a totally distorted idea of reality. She thinks that one can possess the other, that one can control it as if it were a good or a material object. Faced with the fear of losing the person she loves, the jealous or the jealous will try desperately to control the other but, trapped in this vicious and infernal kind, she does not realize that it can end up causing the breakup that she tries to avoid at all costs.

It is essential to act before reaching this point of no return. Jealousy can be caused by serious problems of lack of self-confidence and a distorted view of reality. This is a problem that can be solved if we are able to accept that it is impossible to control everything, especially the people around us.

A solution to jealousy

Counseling or psychotherapy that focuses on low self-esteem and self-image may help people with pathological jealousy. It should not be forgotten that a jealous person suffers a lot and will have to undertake some important psychological work to try to solve his problems.
