The Weekly Steemit Health Challenge; My Chocolate mousse with Greek Yogurt
Hello friends, today i am going to share with a healthy summer dessert I made with my favorite Yogurt which is Greek Yogurt, since this week's challenge is about replacing unhealthy desserts with healthier ones.
So before we get into the recipe properly, i want to tell you why do I love Greek yogurt and why i eat it almost every single day, and why i have been waiting for so long for some company to be bring it to my country.
Greek yogurt is a great source of protein and actually contains double the amount of protein compared to any other yogurt. A 100 grams of Greek yogurt contains 8 grams of protein which is equivalent to the protein amount in one and a half eggs. So if you are a vegetarian, this is a superb source of protein. Greek yogurt also contains half the amount of fat compared to any other yogurt. So that is double the amount of protein and half the amount of fat, I think that is so cool. Also Greek yogurt is one of the best natural probiotics out there, so it is great for your immune system.
Finally another reason that I love it even at first site is that it is more creamy, thick and more yummy, this is achieved by straining out all the a huge amount of more liquid from the yogurt. So if you are trying to improve the protein content of your diet, and reduce fat, then always use the traditional Greek yogurt
NB: Not all Greek yogurts are the same, because there different processing methods and added ingredients can change the nutrient profile of the product, some manufacturers might add whey afterwards to boost the protein content and change texture, some aren't strained for that long so there would be much more lactose than traditional Greek yogurt.

So lets get to it.
Chocolate mousse is seen as a bit unhealthy, because quite often it is packed full of double cream with sugar, but i am going to show you how you can make a much healthier version of it using just five very simple ingredients
- Milk [3/4 cup]
- Dark Chocolates [3.5 oz]
- Honey [1 tablespoon]
- Vanilla extract [1/2 teaspoon]
- Greek yogurt [2 cups]
STEP 1
So very quickly, all we need to do is get a pan and a hot plate (preferably hotplate because we don't need too much heat)STEP 2
We add in the milk
STEP 3
We then add in the chunks of chocolate, i will advise you break them in bits
STEP 4
The idea is to heat the milk just enough until the chocolate melts, but don't overheat because we don't want that milk to boil
STEP 5
When the chocolate is melted, add in the honey and vanilla extract and mix everything together, although some people prefer to mix the vanilla extract and honey with the Greek yogurt first, but there is not much difference
STEP 6
You take it off from the heat and leave it aside for about 5 minutes just to cool the chocolate mousse down a bit. While it is cooling down, you get your Greek yogurt into a large bowl, and when the chocolate mousse is cooled down a little, we would then pour it into the Greek yogurt
STEP 7
We then mix or fold in gently until they are all well combined and totally dissolved to smooth and creamy
STEP 8
So our Chocolate mousse and Greek yogurt is now cooked, and all that is left to do is to divide it in between some smaller bowls and then we put it in the fridge to chill for about 2-3 hours. When they are ready to serve, you can take them out and top them with some extra Greek yogurt or some raspberries, but that is totally optional, i prefer mine just like this.
