According to doctors in Japan, the risk of children with influenza can be reduced by 50% if they take vitamin D.
This discovery is very important for fighting influenza epidemics since vitamin D, which is naturally produced by the human body when exposed to direct sunlight, has no significant side effects, costs little and Can be several times more effective than antivirals or vaccines.

Only one in ten children, aged six to 15 years, taking vitamin D in the clinical trial had the flu compared to one in five for the group receiving a placebo. Mitsuyoshi Urashima, the Japanese doctor who led the study, told the Times that vitamin D was more effective than vaccines in preventing influenza.
Dr. Damien Downing, a medical doctor and a medical consultant has publicly stated that governments "do like" epidemics because it allows them to impose their will. The London-based doctor advised patients to increase their vitamin D intake rather than getting the flu vaccine.

It's also important to bear in mind for vegans and non-pork eaters alike that most commonly given flu shots contain ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA), monosodium glutamate, hydrolyzed porcine (PORK) gelatin, arginin, sucrose, egg protein, gentamicin sulfate, dibasic potassium phosphate, monobasic potassium phosphate.

If you have an infection, the truth is that you need more vitamin D. This is a given. In other words, vitamin D acts as a natural antibiotic. It acts against any type of microbe (viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites). It should also be noted that there are many physicians in Canada and the United States who prescribe up to 50,000 IU of vitamin D per day as a treatment for a long list of chronic diseases.

Dr. John Cannell, MD, suggests that the high dose of vitamin D (50,000 IU) is consumed for three days at the first sign of a cold or flu.

Besides vitamin D, children also need calcium. What are the best sources of vitamin D, besides dairy?
