Can Juicing Really Help you Lose Weight?
Healthy benefits of juicing are phenomenal! Juicing is extracting juice from fresh fruits or vegetables. This liquid that comes from this fresh produce contains vitamins, minerals, and plant chemicals found in fresh natural fruits. Juicing is not only a great form of detox for the body but it can be a way to lose a significant amount of weight. This is because by juicing you considerably reduce the amount of calories you take in. When you do the math, meaning you find out how many calories you burn at a resting rate (or for your daily activity level) and then subtract the number of calories you take in if will usually show a deficit with juicing. It is not easy and will take several days for your body to adjust so you’re not hungry. Just as any diet program it is worth it. Just in case you didn’t understand the math here’s a breakdown.
Your resting calorie burn for a 5ft 5 in female weighing 180 lbs with a low amount of activity will burn about 1500 calories a day. That means she will burn about 10,500 calories per week without working out or any exertions beyond her normal routine. So she wants to drop a few pound and decides to juice. She drinks 6 juices a day and the total amount of calories she drinks is say is 1000 calories a day meaning she is drinking a total or about 7000 calories a week. She is at a 3,500 calorie deficit a week so she will lose about a pound and a half a week.
Other benefits of juicing is that it is a great detox that will push all the toxins we take in from processed foods and our environment out of our bodies causing us to feel invigorated and refreshed. Have more energy, less aches and pains, but juicing also fights diseases such as cancer, high blood pressure, and other debilitating diseases. It also boosts your immune system, help remove toxins from your body, aid digestion and help you lose weight. Many people will say that eating the whole fruit is better because of the fiber you lose when you juice you get when you eat the fruit. While this is true it doesn’t hurt to give your digestive system a break from breaking down fiber once in a while and detoxing the body. Once last piece of advice I can give you is to be aware that there are people out there who talk a good game when it comes to juicing (in the negative) however from a person that juices believe me the sugar is all natural and the body digest it differently than it does processed sugars, and juicing is not dangerous in anyway if your only doing it for a short time. I have known many that have done juice fast for as much as 90 days and detoxed their bodies completely. Of course only start with a 24 hour fast if you choose and work up to the more in depth fasts. You could also begin with just replacing one of your meals with juice if you are a fresh beginner. Have a juice for breakfast and then a healthy lunch and dinner.
Juicing is a great natural way to heal the body. Just take it slow and listen to yourself because nobody knows you better than you!
