Jaundice :
When free or conjugated bilirubin accumulates in the blood, the skin, sclera, and mucus membranes turn yellow. This yellowness is known as jaundice.
Classification :
Prehepatic or haemolytic jaundice.
Hepatic or Heapatocellular jaundice .
Obstructive or Cholestatic jaundice.
Cause of jaundice :
A. Prehepatic or haemolytic jaundice :
Malaria
Sickle cell anaemia
3.Hereditary spherocytosis.
4.Thalassemia.
- Drug and other toxins.
B. Hepatic or Heapatocellular jaundice :
- Hepatitis.
2.Cirrhosis.
3.Weils disease.
4.Cancer.
C. Obstructive or Cholestatic jaundice :
1.Gall stone in the bile ducts.
- Cancer.
3.Congenital malformation.
- Pancreatitis.
5.Parasites.
6.Pregnency.
