11 Facts about ALBUS DUMBLEDORE
As promised in my last blogpost, I’m starting a facts series about the characters in J.K. Rowlings Wizarding World.
I asked myself quite a while, who would be the best, to start with. And of course it had to be Albus Dumbledore, because in my opinion he was one of the most powerful wizards of all time.
Before becoming the headmaster of Hogwarts, Dumbledore taught transfiguration.
When he died, he actually was 115 years old. He was born in 1881 and died (way too soon) in 1997.
Dumbledore had a younger sister, Ariana - who eventually was an Obscurus but got killed by accident in her youth, and a younger brother, Aberforth - whom we met first in “The Order of the Phoenix”. His father Percival Dumbledore died in Askaban because he killed 3 muggels whom assaulted Ariana.
His mother Kendra, a muggleborn witch, was accidentally killed by her daughter Arianna, because she lost the control over her magic.Dumbledore was able to do magic without his wand. In “Prisoner of Azkaban” Dumbledore saves Harry without his wand when he falls off his broom in a Quidditch game.
Albus Dumbledore’s grave is the only one at Hogwarts. He wanted to be buried at Hogwarts, because it was the only place that felt like home for him.
Both, Dumbledore and Grindelwald, were the best wizards of their age and became best friends. They first met in Godric’s Hollow after Albus graduated from Hogwarts.
Ariana, the youngest kid of the Dumbledore Family, was killed in an argument between Albus, Aberforth and Gellert Grindelwald. He never forgave himself because maybe he was the one who killed his sister Ariana.
In the Mirror of Erised, Dumbledore told Harry, that he saw himself with a nice pair of socks. But he really saw his Family all happy together and alive.
The Dumbledore Family lived in Godric’s Hollow, the same place where Gryffindor founder Godric Gryffindor and the Potter Family lived.
Dumbledores patronus was a Phoenix.
In his lifetime, Albus Dumbledore was given many awards, including the Merlin First Class for his outstanding act of bravery for defeating the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald in 1945.
