When Your Work Becomes a Chore

Ever wonder why some individuals who are highly-paid and who happen to work in known or established companies leave their jobs?

You may think, 'Such a waste!' or 'What is he thinking?'. Well, these are quite the common reactions for those who do not know the real reason behind.

Many are very much into the idea that working for big companies and receiving high salary is what we have to aim. Yes, that can mostly be true. Who wouldn't want to have a high-paying job? For sure, we all do at some points. However, there would always come a time when you wouldn't be as satisfied with just that as you were the first time. And why is that? You are not anymore happy with what you do and the salary you get can not even motivate you any longer. You now find your work - a chore.

Why is that even happening when I love my job?

Yes, you do love your job and that is what keeps you going. But, there are external factors that may affect how you perceive your job and these external factors will slowly get into you. When this happens, you will just wake up one day and feel like you are forcing yourself to go to work with one thing in mind, 'I want this day be over soon.', so why stay then? Alright, because you are afraid to make some changes. You are way too used to things as they are now. But don't you think that is exhausting both physically and mentally?

The pay you get is a good enough reason to stay and the more when you really love what you are getting paid to do. However, the most important element to consider is the working environment. It really feels much better working in an environment where competition is healthy, teamwork is evident and employee value is observed than in an environment where mistakes even small ones are what are seen, employees considered as merely variables and teamwork is underrated.

Whether you are planning to work a part-time or a full-time job, getting comfortable with the environment you are working at is definitely a wonderful thing. As much as possible, try to avoid toxic working environment that would poison you to think that the job you love is nothing but a chore.
