6 Ways How to Live a Happier Life
“Happiness is an inside job. Don’t assign anyone else that much power over your life.” Mandy Hale
People are constantly working on accomplishing new things and getting the best out of life. We work on building a family, we work on our intimate relationships, we build a career, create businesses, making more money, dying for recognition or creating a better life for others. We expect one thing in return: being happy.
I have come from the environment where happiness wasn’t so common. I grew up with the belief that some people were destined to be happy, while others weren't. I taught it all depends on what the world decides to give it to us, and we have to accept it. My past sold me this belief, and I bought it, and I believe that many of you do to so let me share something with you. Happiness is you. You create it; you destroy it. You can change it; you can create more happiness and feel truly fulfilled. You can also lower your happiness and feel miserable. It all comes down to the fact that you are the one who defines it.
Many of us struggle with building a happy future because we focus on the wrong things. I have for you 6 ways how to take your life to the next level and reach the peak of your happiness.
1# Have the courage to let go
Whether it is your past, toxic relationship, draining job or a mean thing your friend told you yesterday, let it go. Not because it is easy, but because you have to. Letting go is often one of the most challenging things we have to do but holding grudges is even harder in the long run.
If you feel that something is making you unhappy and it takes all your energy away, it makes you feel tired and constantly frustrated, do you want to live your life this way? I guess not. Find the courage to walk away from things which don’t serve you. Often it is going to be the hardest thing you ever do, but no one said that life is all about sunshine and rainbow. Sometimes you need to walk against the wind to get the best out of life.
2# Keep your life to yourself
Keeping your personal life, your problems or goals to yourself is quite important. Many people want to see you down or weak, so they can feel better about themselves and their lives (which more than likely suck). You don’t want to give them this privilege.
When it comes to your goals, talking about them with too many people will steal your focus. You will be talking more than doing, and that’s the killer of your action. Keep your life private and let only a few people in.
3# Spread positivity
I love making others happy, and I bet you do too, especially these days when life seems to run on problems. All we see or hear are politics, wars, how social media are bad for people or who rob the bank and got addicted to heroin. News and social media are selling us negativity, and we are buying it more and more.
I am not saying that these problems aren’t real, or that people don’t suffer because of it. But there is more than enough people who will do the negativity job for you so you can as well become different. Let’s see social media as a great opportunity to share some fantastic moments, empowering quotes or happy faces. Let people know that life is fantastic because it is.
4# Fake, negative, toxic people: OUT!
Stop letting people get into your head and dump their mental trash there. There is one thing when someone has a problem, and you offer them the shoulder to cry on. Another thing is if someone constantly complains but doesn’t do anything about their situation.
I know that we all have those “lifetime friends.” But sometimes people we think are the best for us, cause the complete opposite. If you have such a friend, sit down with him or her and talk to them. Try to explain them, with respect of course, that their negativity isn’t helping them, nor you. If you don’t see any results, after all, you may want to reconsider this relationship. Remember that the big part of your life depends on 5 people you spend the most of your time with.
5# Work towards your passion
I think that following your passion and turning your goals and dreams into reality is the heart of your happiness. It is one of the most rewarding feelings because you are doing what you are destined for.
Do you know how many people don’t live their dreams? Do you how many people live in such severe conditions, fighting for life and food to survive? Where are their dreams?
I don’t know where you are from or what you do, but I assume that since you can read this, you aren’t fighting for life or starving to death. Don’t ever let your dreams go. They carry your happiness. Fulfill your purpose no matter how hard it seems. Where is a will, there is a way.
6# Never stop learning
Personal growth and constant absorbing of new knowledge will make you alive. You will not only become smarter, but the door will start to open to you because you will improve. You’ll get more opportunities in life and have a better chance to become who you truly want to be.
You can lose it all but one thing you can never lose is what you know. You can always use your knowledge to build things from scratch or figure out a new way when something doesn’t work out. Knowledge was and always will be the greatest power.
