We all depend more and more on our internet connection to do day to day stuff. But as we have seen in the arab spring the internet can free people. But not without a fight. The fight for and on the internet.

For this reason there are a lot of project going on. One of them is the freedombox.

So what does it do?

Email and telecommunications that protects privacy and resists eavesdropping
A publishing platform that resists oppression and censorship.
An organizing tool for democratic activists in hostile regimes.
An emergency communication network in times of crisis.

And how does it work?

It integrates privacy protection on a cheap plug server so everybody can have privacy. Data stays in your home.
It works as a proxy when there is a window (crack) to get connected.
It provides encrypted VOIP.
Helps encrypting your mail.
Provides Tor.
