In Wellington, it's been great for the last couple of decades. The Sky Show is completely free. You just have to get yourself down to the waterfront or somewhere you can see the waterfront. @sift666 and I went downtown on the bus. It's still cold and windy, so wrap up warm. There are hardly any backyard displays now, which I think is a good thing. When I was a kid, there were always fires and injuries.

But our new mayor has decided that we'll only have the Sky Show at Matariki now. I can see his point, but he apparently doesn't remember why the Sky Show was started in the first place.
