"Gill Gun" Takedown Video Hi Standard Model 25
Quick video I made showing how to disassemble, clean, inspect, and assemble a HI STANDARD model 25. This is another pawn shop find and was a bargain at only 50 dollars. It has surface rust on most of the parts which should be easy to deal with, the bore is in great shape with crisp riflings and no visible scoring in the chamber, the bolt face is not damaged or corroded, overall a mechanically sound gun. I keep buying these when I see them because unlike modern 22's they are all metal, no plastic parts in the action or trigger group. Many of these you find in pawn shops will not work well until you thoroughly clean them. Most of these I come across have decades of carbon fouling and oil crammed into every corner of the action and caked on every surface causing them to jam or misfire. Once you get them cleaned up and replace or repair anything that's worn out (usually a 5-10 dollar part) these "gill" guns make a fine addition to anyone's collection.

The thing I find interesting about these guns is that, at least in the one I shot, if you hold the trigger back, the bolt stays back. When you let the trigger go, the bolt cycles foreward again. I thought that was a neat feature.
I love that feature, almost as much as I love that it has no plastic parts
Mate you should tag this stuff thl, your our town gunsmith.
