Graffiti near the railroad tracks at Locust Beach, Bellingham, WA. Locust was very near my childhood home, on the north side of town. My friends and I spent a lot of time down there, only once did we almost get hit by a passing train, walking home late at night. We were on a bridge, probably over 100m long and 50ft tall at its highest with a corner at the end of it. There wasn't much room on the walkway, maybe 3 feet. We decide to risk it (what are the odds?), and sure enough, halfway across, we see the light coming around that corner. One friend starts running, thinking he could make it off the bridge of death before it comes, but my other buddy and I were pretty sure we weren't gonna make it. Ryan certainly didn't, and all three of us bent over the railing as the train rushed by us, hoping that there wasn't going to be any unusually large cars or other train-related objects to boot us off the rickety bridge... Good times.
