Xlendi and Xaghra

On the second to last day of our family Gozo trip last year I spent the morning of Day 4, in the polyclinic with my daughter who had a bad case of tonsillitis.

Afterwards we met the rest of the family for a coffee and pea cake and then, after picking up my daughter's prescription we retired to the pool to relax.

Once the sun moved around and the pool was in shade, Rebecca went inside for a nap and John, Prentice and I went to Xlendi for a swim.

Beautifully Clear And Blue

The village itself is pretty small, even by Gozo standards. In fact the number of roads listed in Xlendi, in Wikipedia, total just 20!

There is the "front" as shown in the picture below, a few restaurants at the side between my feet in the top picture and the "front" and a few restaurants on the road leading into town.

There are a couple of grocery shops and then the residential streets mentioned. Apart from these that is about it.

After our swim we went back to the villa to change and get ready for dinner.

We went to a place called 'The Hideaway' in Xaghra which does very tasty, cheap food and had a lovely evening sitting outside.

While we were eating we saw lots of lightning flashes and heard a couple of rolls of thunder but, for now, the storm stayed in the distance.

It arrived with a vengeance the next day though and was spectacular to watch.

I'm not wishing I was there now as it's way too hot but it would be lovely if we could return again this year. Not very likely though as my grandson starts school in September and my daughter will want to be at home for that.
