Gong Hei Fat Choy!
Today we are celebrating Gong Hei Fat Choy as we cannot deny that not only Chinese nationals were celebrating this tradition. This was somehow affects every nationalities as we are all wishing a prosperous year ahead of us.
Do you know this doesn't mean that you were wishing a Happy new year as frequently used for greetings but actually implies a wish for prosperity for the next year.
Lunar Calendar
Start of 2018 was not actually same as the Lunar Calendar but it was associated with animal Dog which start on February 16 upto early March next year. Prior to child birth February 15 will fall under roaster animal sign. At ancient times Chinese people used Lunar Calendar to track time.
There were 12 year cycle prior to every zodiac repetition namely:
rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig
There will be 15 days of celebration until the next full moon. With festivities lion and dragon dances and on the first day family gatherings.
Year of the Dog
On a Chinese Folklore it has been selected by Jade emperor as one of 12 animal zodiac as symbolizes wisdom. It has been believed that people born on this sign posses dog animal traits as loyalty and honesty.
As the dog was inclined to earth element it has been believed that any business related to earth will be a good start of investing.
