Gods unchained — Mythic rank with almost f2p deck
So I´ve ended ranked constructed weekend at rank 7 with 1406 rank points.
And final setup of deck you can see here.
It´s a kind of control deck and the main advantage of this deck is, that it can win against almost all decks at current meta.
Game strategy
This part very depends on which type of deck you are heading on.
Of course, most of the current meta decks are aggro-tempo decks, so your strategy survives the first 5 turns through your spells and god ability. Then most of these decks lose their tempo and don´t have cards in hand. There is the main point use your spells very wisely and don´t waste them on low attack/health creatures.
On the other hand, if you are heading kind of control deck your strategy is to keep tempo and your opponent under pressure. Here you need to save your direct god dmg cards and wipe out your opponent surprisingly.
This deck in theory can do a combo of 20 direct dmg to god in one turn with no one on your side of board at start of turn.
Special strategy you need if your opponent use death aggro deck with soul burn. There you don´t have time for wasting your resources. Don´t try control board so much, remove only most dmg creatures and if you have option attack god, go for it. Most of these matchups I win one turn before my death.
Mulligan
This part depends on which type of deck you are heading on too, but essentially you want some removal like Starshard Bolt, some early board presence like Skeleton Heavy or Arcane Transcendent.
Against fast aggro decks is a good option, Faraday Cage best played as combo with Assistant Alchemist or Street Conjurer and of course, you want Mana Toad.
If you already have 2 and 3 mana cost cards then Soothsayer, Carthaginian Marine, Wetland Ogre, and Dimension Looper.
Creatures, Combos and their usability
I start with the theory of 20 direct dmg from hand. I´ve never played this combo as full, but in theory, is it possible.
For playing this combo you need full hand of card, then you can play Leyhoard Hatchling for 2 mana. Then you play Street Conjurer with Wyrmbreath, Shadow Slash, and Ancient Texts. Of course, these for cards cost 10 mana, but there is a possibility to lower their cost by 3 mana through Assistant Alchemist and Arcane Transcendent.
Now let’s look at individual cards and their usability in deck, combos, and possibility of exchange.
Assistant Alchemist — great tempo card. At early game give you small board presence, but it´s a free mana card. In mid and late game give you the possibility to play some combos earlier. Good to play with Faraday Cage and Crystal Rain or as a support with some board presence creature. Possible exchange with Shadow Scryer.
Street Conjurer — combo card. In early-stage play him with clear board cards like Faraday Cage and Tracking Bolt. In mid-game good for support to clear board with Starshard Bolt or Crystal Rain. At end game phase is good for support finisher move with Wyrmbreath and Shadow Slash. It´s a critical card and with good use is a game-changer.
Skeleton Heavy— early board presence
Arcane Transcendent — tempo card, allow you to play at turn 4 cards for 6 mana with bag of tricks 7.
Mana Toad — tempo card
This creature you want to play as fast as it is possible. I don´t think that is necessary to have two of them in the deck. By the way, as many people play pyramid warden it’s fun to play this card around that.
Carthaginian Marine — tempo card and board presence with dmg
Dimensional Looper — tempo card and board presence with dmg, possible as final blow
I don´t have two of them, because of that I play only one. Otherwise I play one more dimensional Looper instead of Carthaginian Marine.
Wetlands Ogre, Helios Battlesvorn, Helian Blademaster — strong midgame board presence
I´ve played Thebian Brawler and Mammon´s Stalwart, but these cards give you better tempo
Aether Vanguard — tempo changer
Rebirth Planetar — strong board presence, give you back Aether Vanguard
Thanks to this guy is so easy sacrifice Aether Vanguards, and because Vanguards is only other Aethers in deck so you are sure that you give them back :)
Golem Centurion — strong endgame board presence with nice afterlife
Helian Elite — very strong endgame board presence
Don´t play Helian Elite so harsh many deck have some easy removals, so you must play around this possibility.
Layhoard Hatchling — Final Blow, Game Finisher, Tempo Changer, Strong board presence removal
This card is good to keep as final move, but its quite good when you need to remove some strong opponent presence creature
Echopthon, Atlantean Hydra — Final Blow, Game Finisher, Massive Tempo Changer
In fact I start to play this deck because of this card. In most games, I don’t even get to summon it. But the strongest part is overkill with blitz, so you can play this card as direct dmg to opponent, protection removal from god and preparation for final blow next turn.
Spell
Ancient Texts — great optional use, if it´s possible to keep this card in your hand for later, do it. It´s not only dmg card, many times this card save my ass or give me one more dmg for finishing god.
Shadow Slash — of course for the same mana cost you can have one more Wyrmbreath with one more dmg, but that look for future opponent cards can give you critical information for planning your next moves.
Wyrmbreath — nice final blow move, but of course a great removal
Ratify — great removal against strong legendary card and thanks to blastwave as a god power is easy to remove ward from them.
Astric Implosion — original I´ve played one Astric Implosion and one Inferno but Inferno is too expensive and many times I missed that one dmg and actually against only one creature. And if there are other creatures that 3 dmg in most time is enough.
O Fortuna — Great Tempo Changer, Late Game Survivability, preparation for final blow turn.
Many times thanks to this card I have enough resources (time and cards) for turn over the whole game. Stand at board with last one hitpoint.
If you played a Soothsayer and find this card in choice and think that game go to the late game keep this card for draw. You really don´t want this card as the last one.
Conclusion
It´s a very complex deck with the possibility of a high win rate. But you must play cards very wisely, planning your moves forwards, at start well guess your opponent deck and around that choose your strategy. The best thing about this deck is, that it is built 73% from core cards and with an estimated price 0,048 ETH is the cheapest high-rank deck. In addition, genesis card isn´t crucial in that deck, so this deck is a good option for F2P player.
