Be strong and brave.

Have not I commanded you? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be you dismayed: for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9

Thinking:
While these words were spoken to Joshua when he took the place of Moses, they also apply to us. Take a moment and read Psalm 139 aloud to see that God's promise to be with us is for all who call on him. Listen to Jesus' words in Matthew 28:18-20, when he promises his disciples that he will be with them "always, until the end of the age." Remember God's promise, reiterated of an Old Testament blessing, in Hebrews 13:5, "I will never leave you nor forsake you!" Let's be strong; our God, our Father, our Shepherd is always close, even when it doesn't seem like it. We cannot go anywhere without your presence close to us, and in us, we are not alone. We don't need to be afraid. Indeed, not even death can separate us from his love. (Romans 8:35–39)

Prayer:
Stay close, dear father, not only to your promise, and not only in your presence, but also in my conscience. I need to know that the Lord is near as I face the incredible opportunities that come my way. I need to have confidence in your help and your sustaining love as I deal with the great challenges in my life. I trust in your faithful love. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
