Love that game, too.
What I still do not get is why a blockchain based go game would be better then the stuff I have on my mobile phone.
Is it the possibility of betting and tournament modus?
And if you offer human to human games:
I see a big danger of people letting run computer programs to win those bets...
Is there a way to avert this?
The main reason I'm doing this is for practice. These are small projects that will get me back into the swing of programming.
As far as cheating is concerned. It's all on the blockchain. It's all transparent. With no house raking the pot, everyone should break even.
Anyone who's actually making money from the system will be a cheating suspect. If the community comes to consensus that someone is cheating they would be outright banned.
I want all my applications to connect to a reputation system. In a decentralized manner, we can all build up reputations and get the people we interact with to trust us. It won't be worth trying to game the system, those people will simply get banned and lose all their reputation.
Putting these games on the blockchain will be decidedly inferior to the websites I described (lichess and online-go). The fastest one can move will be the speed of the blocks. However, it's free. I can put games on the blockchain without having to pay for anything. The bandwidth has already been paid for by decentralized Steem Power stake.
Also, I'm working on a new idea for blockchain games. It's not real-time and it's not turn based. It's a hybrid of the two. Each block in the blockchain can count as a time measurement tick in the game.
that really sounds great... I wish I had those programming skills..
If I had I would replicate a turn based old timer strategy game like battle isle, or even better: history line aka the great war.. all from blue byte but freeware now..... asc (advanced strategic command) is too complex...
maybe you can let people play on the original versions run on a server but "only need to program an interphase to steemit and a control board where the make their turns?"
Maps can range from small to huge... as does time spend... turn based also means ideal conditions to let humans play humans.. and they could also bet each other with cryptos.. a small share should go to the developer and community for more content.. and I believe cheating is close to impossible as there is no good AI in those games..
Anyways.. just my 5 cents..
Would be happy to be one of your first users for any game you bring up..
Also keeping an eye on whats going on with steem monsters...
