Feeling out of place in the modern world.

Humanity is living in an environment that is alien to it's nature.
Think for instance of our ancestors in a fast paced, cars everywhere, millions of people around you sort of world, and that is us.
We are no different from them.

It's no wonder that so many people choose to stay out of it, living indoors as much as possible, only trekking out to get food or go to somewhere else indoors.

This is the "hikikomori" effect of our society, more prevalent in Japan due to the isolated, private culture that exists there. But it happens all over the world. Another term would be agoraphobia, or social anxiety, and leads to an avoidance of others, and busy, hectic situations.

Granted, we are social animals, but we are not made for the levels of population we have today, or the technocratic nature of the modern world. Lights everywhere, loud noises, screeching cars. All it does for some is raise levels of anxiety, signalling danger.

Home - is safety. At home you can escape the fear, at home YOU are in control.

Where are the trees? The grass? There is concrete and pavement slabs everywhere. Our world has become cold, disconnected from what once was. No connection to our ancient past.

And for what?Just so we can all be lonely, and feel hopeless? This seems to be the world today.

I remember as I walked the streets in Japan, the blank expressions hiding the sadness in many people's hearts. I see that in England too, and I can only hope that people reconnect to their spirits, their higher selves, and get gnosis.

I will write about gnosis further as time passes, this is only a quick post, there may be spelling mistakes, and I typed as I thought.

Consider this a ramble, but a good hearted one :)

To me it all comes back to one simple word... Balance. We were designed to evolve and given x amount of time it is understandable that we go from using a stone tied to a stick as a hammer for food gathering to complex machines and computers. But as you say have we gone to far? Has the pendulum swung too far in the opposite direction ? How can we find the balance between technology and progress with our ancestral instincts? Does everyone feel this way or are we the minority?

I agree, the balance has been lost.
We were once only a step or two away from nature, as our small towns and villages were surrounded by forest. Our food was gathered from there, and we hunted also.

Now we look, and there are trees, but they are alone, spaced out, controlled and dominated by us.

The greatest thing I've noticed is how hard it is simply to find peace, to go away and be alone and find yourself. I think that's what I was trying to get at here in this post, although I think I am still learning myself :)

Also, I think everyone feels it, but most try to bury it underneath revelry, drugs, sex, or alcohol.
