My thought On April the giraffe and Tajiri

in #giraffe7 years ago

We are home now thinking back on our day at AAP. Things we found special:

  1. Arriving at our bed and breakfast and found out the young couple staying there drove in from Woodstock, Illinois just to see the park. We also went out to eat that night wearing our April shirts and so many people came to ask us about April and the park. What friendly people.
  2. Sitting on the benches at the park watching the well behaved group of kids from a summer camp checking out all the animals. What fun they were having.
  3. Talking about traveling after retirement with the couple that joined us on that bench.
  4. The older lady that handed my husband a silver dollar as a thank you for serving in the Navy. That really was special. He is carrying that silver dollar in his pocket.
  5. Watching the approx. nine month old sitting on the railing (mommy holding on to him) feeding Oliver. Oliver was so gentle and the little boy was so happy.
  6. Talking to Jordan about the book we sent him and he told me he loves it and it is on his desk at home.
  7. Standing there in person watching Jordan give the live webcam on giraffes. You can see my husband in the video.
  8. Loving the beauty of the park. We were fortunate to have great weather and small crowds. Every animal looked well cared for.
  9. Watching the little 2 and 3 year olds feeding the turtles lettuce. No matter how young or old, the park can be enjoyed by everyone.
  10. And April. There just are no words to describe April and how special she is. You just have to be there.
Jordan said they may expand the park by adding another Giraffe barn and bringing Taz back to the park. When that happens, we will be back. I have hundreds of photos but these are a few of my favorites.
