The demand for electricity globally will reach around 38,700 terawatt-hours by the year 2050 from 25,000 terawatt-hours in 2017. This indicates that the world will require new investment in power generating capacity.

Countries in the continent of Africa that are still developing and those in the Middle East and Southeast Asia are experiencing increase in population, GDP growth and enhanced access to electricity which will lead to a doubling in the demand for electricity.

Study shows that gas to power should be considered as a supplement to Africa’s abundant hydropower resources and also as a replacement for more the already numerous carbon-intensive coal and liquid fuels. It’s imperative that the environment is put into consideration while trying to generate this essential energy.

The Gigajoule solution.

Energy.

Siemens is expected to provide two 66MW Siemens SGT-A65 aero-derivative gas turbines driving Brush generators in simple cycle configuration per floating power plant. This will total to eight turbines on four badges. Siemens already has a reputation as a world-class powerhouse that has integrated Rolls Royce’s Energy compressors and aero-derivative gas turbines which makes it the ultimate solution to meet the needs of this project.

Natural gas as a source of power.

Natural gas has to be the cleanest source of carbon-based energy. The fact that Gigajoule is planning to use this as the source of electricity for their floating power plants shows that the team is considerate of conserving our environment, which is a win for them.

The Gigajoule team has spent the last four years developing three sites for their projects which are ready for instant implementation using the floating power plant technology on a bespoke basis. The project’s economic model is detailed, which is a guarantee that the projects will be efficient, viable and profitable as well.

Gigajoule is ready to implement these three projects which will be located in Southern Nigeria at various sites. It is imperative to note that these sites will be strategically situated close to gas supply and electricity evacuation infrastructure.

Why Nigeria? Well, Nigeria is known to have an abundant stock of natural gas which is yet to be fully mainly due to the lack of state-of-the-art technology in the country. Gigajoule, however, looks to exploit this natural resource in an ecofriendly manner thus providing electricity to the country and others in need of electrical power in the process as well.

The Gigajoule tokens.

Gigajoule plans to hold an Initial Exchange Offering to finance the implementation of the project. The platform’s native token (GIGJ) will be issued. The GIGJ token will be structured as a security token, and token holders will benefit from the success of this project. Being a token holder will mean that you will be entitled to receive a dividend of 15% of the profits generated by the project annually, in proportion to their number of tokens.

CONCLUSION.

This project’s goal is to maximize the supply of electricity throughout countries that lack a sufficient supply. They have a plan to deploy and operate their floating power generation plants for a long-term period of twenty years. The Gigajoule is the ultimate solution to provide short term power generation solutions to majority of developing countries that are in dire need of constant electricity supply.
