Huge Greenland Glacier Ice Arrives in Dubai
A massive iceberg from Greenland formed 100,000 years ago will soon appear in glasses of water at Dubai's finest restaurants, cafes, and homes after a journey of 20,000 kilometers.
This is not a fantasy, the glacier ice has already arrived in Dubai Tuesday 16 January, as reported by UAE official media outlets.
The firm responsible for shipping the ice is not disclosing the cost of the operation that brought what it claims the world's purest water into one of the water-hungry urban developments that are expanding rapidly.
Being isolated since its creation, the glacier ice as claimed by Arctic Ice, the firm behind this project, has not been in contact with human-related activities polluting its water and reserving it as the 'purest ice on Earth'.
The project seems to have been conceived about 5 years ago and it's not the only initiative, another firm had the same concept in mind with different source and different destination within the UAE, from Antarctica to the east coast seaport of Fujeirah, Dubai is on the western coast of the United Arab Emirates.
In addition to sourcing water, the organizers believe the sight of the iceberg will be a tourist attraction.
Cities across the country are seeing a boom in urban developments with new projects sprouting out of the desert and thousands of new properties emerge whose residents will need access to more water.
