Gems and precious stones (Crystal)
I have always been interested in gems when I was younger. I had a book once that explained the many types of gems out there with pictures and I was so fascinated when I first held crystal in my hands. It was amazing to see these in person. So thinking about it, I’ve made the decision to add this as one of my topics to talk about.
Crystal has the hidden power to inspire, motivate and fascinate the eyes of the beholder, but they are not just here to show off their beauty. They have very usefully properties for example, watches. A quartz watches uses quartz crystal to operator. The crystal generates signals which regulates an electronic oscillator within a watch. Now I didn't know that 'til recently, learn something new everyday I guess aha. They can also be used to help aid in strengthening metals or even season food :O
Yes, you heard correctly - season our food! Did you know that salt, sugar and ice are also different forms of crystal? That is just another reason why they are so fascinating as they can be created from just about anything.
You can grow crystals in the comfort of your own home. They need room to grow, if you keep them trapped in a small space they will only grow small and stay small. If you want big crystal give them some space, also give them time to grow.
Want to start growing some crystal? Here is how below:
Rock candy (sugar crystal)
Rock Candy Materials
• 3 cups sugar
• 1 cup boiling water
• clean glass or plastic jar
• wooden skewer
Grow Sugar Crystals
The procedure is simple to follow
Dissolve the sugar in boiling water. Heat the sugar solution on the stove or in the microwave if you have trouble getting the sugar to dissolve.
Allow the solution to cool a bit before pouring it into your jar.
Pour the sugar solution into a jar.
Place a wooden skewer into the jar
Place the container in a place where it won’t be disturbed. You can cover the jar with a paper towel to allow evaporation while keeping the crystal solution clean.
It can take few days to get crystal growth. If you see crystals forming on the top of the jar, you can remove them and eat them. If you leave them, these crystals will compete with your stick for sugar and will reduce the size of your crystals.
Remove the crystals and you’re done. You want to store the crystals by keep them in an airtight container so humidity in the air won’t make the rock candy sticky.
Nice gem! 💎
I see what you did there ;)
