EdSource.org reports that, according to a survey by the University of Chicago's Chapin Hall, LGBTQ youth between the ages of 13 and 25 are 120% more likely to become homeless than their straight identifying peers. Further, and according to the True Colors Fund, out of all the youth, 18 and under, who found themselves homeless in 2017, a shocking 40% identified as LGBTQ, despite the fact that members of the LGBTQ community only make up 7% of the total youth population.

There are many reasons why LGBTQ youth would end up on the street. And although the reasons are often nuanced and complicated, many reports point to actual or perceived rejection by close family / friends.

The article goes on to detail the experiences of LGBTQ youth who have battled homelessness, and they're truly heartbreaking.

Are you queer and never been homeless? Or someone who is queer and has battled homelessness? If so, then count your lucky stars to be alive today because the deck was really stacked against you - now take your chance to give back and PLEASE give to a homeless shelter for LGBTQ youth today! Organizations exist all over the country, but here's two if you don't feel like googling:

https://steemit.com/lgbtq/@nicholi/was-jesus-gay I'm only posting the blog think because there are more statistical resources on the topic at the end. It's very true. 'homoless' is what I jokingly called it when I was younger. Great post.
