How to grow tomatoes(blog 2)

in #gardening7 years ago

Hello again my fellow steamians!
This is blog two of how to grow tomatoes.

So, you have left your tomatoes for a week, now you can take a look at them.
For your information they may not have sprouted yet so if they haven't leave them until they do.
For those of you who have had them sprout great, they should look like this,

Ok, now you want to get a yogurt pot and bury you seedling (aprox 5mm deep) root facing down.
It will take a few days for them to push through(don't pull their leaves out of the soil, this could damage them).
I see that your seedlings have pushed through, amazing!

You have now got mini tomato plants!#
Now just give them a brief watering(3 secs on each one ) every morning.
A few days later they should start producing their first true leaves.

Quick tips

Start them in the yoghurt pots outside so they don't get a shock and die.
If you keep them in a green house, remember to open it up in the day and close it at night or they might get scorched.
Only use a home made fungicide once they are about a month old but if your desperate, use it.

How to make a fungicide spray

You need:
.An eco-friendly spray bottle
.500ml water
.Bicarbonate of soda
.Olive oil
.Eco-friendly dish soap

Method:
Put 1 teaspoon if a little part is infected, 2 teaspoons if 2/5 of the plant is covered, 3 teaspoons if most of the plant is covered of bicarbonate of soda into the water.
Secondly, put 1 teaspoon of oil in there.
Now, mix it for 15 secs.
Next, put in the eco-friendly dish soap in there and mix.
Now, slowly pour it into the spray bottle so it does not foam over.
Give it a good shake and it is ready to go.

I wish you all the very best,

JJ
