I finished planting our oldest raised bed. It’s on the side of our house really close to the property line so there’s no room to have a fence with working space left. Unfortunately that means that deer have access to it so our harvest has been a bit spotty.

I’m using straw for mulch rather than wood chips this year. I’ve found that wood chips may be fine for walking paths, but they’re a pain in the butt among vegetables. Your mileage may vary, some people love them, but not me.

In this pic it’s hard to see much that’s been planted other than peppers, but the four-foot by eight-food bed also includes beets, carrots, bush beans, and pumpkin.
