A Day at the Farm - Early Spring Planting of Kale and Grape Clones

in #gardening8 years ago (edited)

Here are some of the beautiful pictures I took of the Early Spring forest. It will be an exciting year with the many varieties of new seeds I have acquired in the last year. I hope you enjoy the updates throughout the summer of the transformation of my country farm.

I made about 100 grape clones with 3 or 4 varieties. I only put a few in each bucket this year so they don't use up water too quickly and die off like last year.

The Cozy Little Cabin.

The small pond that freezes over in winter and cannot sustain fish, heavily utilized by the deer for water. At one point when I was feeding them I had 20 deer in the yard at once.

My grape cloning buckets were all set to go from last year saving me hours of time.

A peek inside the cabin, there is a loft above too. Enough space for a few people to sleep.

A shot from the end of the garden. Soon everything will come alive again!

I have buckets, fencing, windows, thick glass doors, hoses, pallets, pumps and tanks, it's a scavenger homesteaders dream. I also have a 20 x 12 greenhouse that I will use next winter. I will utilize some of the buckets for hydroponic and aeroponic systems.

Every spring the snow leaves us to their happy home in the great beyond.

The forest is so beautiful. I will build a treehouse village and underground garden paradise there. With land costs rising it is wise to utilize the vertical area of your land, both up and down.

KIMG4188.JPG

I just planted a few pounds of Kale seeds in the immediate surrounding area of the cabin and garden. About 1 million seeds. Will the deer rip them all out by the roots? Will I be able to mulch around them and protect them? It could be the start of a new smoothie business for me. A little dream of mine for quite some time. Of course I will also plant protected rows in the fences for them and there is another 1 and a half acres of farmland on the other side of the pond that I can plant on. I will do everything from seed saving to selective breeding and mass production of food.. made with love.

The end result will be lemon ginger sodas with natural honey or maple syrup, grape wine, and anything made from berries, melons and fruits. Pumpkin pie rollups, banana and tomato ketchups, french onion soups, jerkies and naturally sweetened candies. Dairy cows for making my own cheese and mushrooms for salads and extracts. And of course maple and birch syrup. I will have my own private restaurant with exotic foods found nowhere else in the world. But for now I perfect my recipes as you can see in my previous posts and acquire the materials to build the exotic paradise.

This is a very interesting story. I think you've been busy. You'll be busy :) I already look forward to seeing the growth. I really enjoyed all of the pics of the farm. Thank you for sharing your news.:D

Yes, busy every day. I wish I had more time for posting my activities. Maybe less games and more Steemit?

I also like to see the farm's story more as soon as possible. Don't give up games though if you really enjoy games. :) Out of game, out of fun? lol Take pictures, remember the feeling. Share one by one. Nice farmer @noganoo :)

Thank you, I like your recent article about the nutrition of corn! Following.

Thank @naganoo, at another session I will peel completely about corn

Nice post, I really enjoy a good Kale salad!
Keep us posted as your garden grows.
Steem on!!

That is a goal of mine, to make the best chef salad in Wisconsin. Thanks for the comment, @Paradise-Found

i would totally live there. best of luck with the smoothie business. u could build a small fence around your kale to keep the deer at bay.

Yes, small twine fences or pepper spray is the plan.

dog hair could do the trick too...

oh pepper spray should do the trick. probably keep out other critters as well.

I like this post! Follow!

Thanks you so much, following you too.

We also grow organic vegetables for ourselves, we have a large garden with excellent apples and grapes of good varieties) Later I will also write posts about our greenhouse and what will grow in it.

I am excited to see. Added you to my voter.

Can't wait to see they grow. 😁

Me too, 1 million kale plants is awesome! Thanks for the comment hun.

This is my favorite post today!

Thank you so much, I will create the land into a Busch Garden's style theme park someday.. Private and only for my friends.

"Enough space for a few people to sleep." OH YES! :D

We can snuggle there!
