A gardening story

in #gardening6 years ago

Inspired by @luzcypher 's great gardening articles I thought to share my little knowledge on the subject.

I believe in worm composting, so I constructed my own compost container where I put ash, wood chips, old plants, leaves and sometimes food oil. The worms do a really good job, but I think I should use a lid over it at some point:

I also planted my own musk strawberries from seeds. I didn't had any strawberries last year, but I might have some this year. The plant just woke up from the winter sleep and I made this special bed for those:

Until last year I was buying some plants from a merchant. They look great until you plant them but then they degrade very easily. So I made this box for planting my own seeds. Some of them are seeds that I keep from my own plants (like the brandywine and brandywine black tomatoes).

I also made this hat for small trees that are sensitive to cold so to protect them in the winter:

Finally, I bought this great double automatic irrigation system programmer. I use one program for the vegetables and another program for a second underground line for the trees:

I hope that these simple constructions could be inspiring for someone. Gardening is more than a hobby, it's a survival skill besides that dirt is full of antidepressant ingredients.
