RE: How We Turned a Small City Backyard into a Productive "Bit of Earth"

in #gardening7 years ago

Love your little garden and how the kids enjoyed it too and they also get to learn something that they will always remember. I always loved gardening and nature. And I always got my boys involved in it too, but now they are teenagers, so they don't really care about it. But maybe one day they will want to grown their own organic veggies and fruit and appreciate the value in it. It is so relaxing and so exciting when all the veggies start coming out. Great pictures.

Thanks @joalvarez! Yes, we were really surprised when started getting so much food and at such an early date. We collected bags of green beans from just about a 1/4 of one of the beds (the 4' x 6' bed)! It is so exciting! Be encouraged about the teens. As an adult I definitely utilize many teachings and lessons learned from my youth that I "conveniently" forgot or dismissed as a preteen/teen. But the knowledge and experiences are there.

Green beans straight from the garden were mine and my husbands favorite. I absolutely agree with you @ch4nel on that as an adult you utilize many teachings and experiences learned from your youth, even though you might not even pay attention to it while you are young.
