My first garden!

in #gardening7 years ago

Hello all.

I've always lived in houses with no yards or apartment complexes but recently moved into a house with a yard. For a few years I've been making terrariums and selling them as a side job but have never had the chance to grow a garden! A few weeks ago I tilled up a patch of soil and planted some vegetable seeds. I found an abandon wood post and some old bricks to edge it off. After watering them this morning I decided I'd take a picture and make a post here. :)

I am growing:

-Yellow Dutch onions
-Green Onions
-Sweet mini peppers (tallest plant in back)
-Purple cherry tomatoes (started growing this plan before transplanting it outside)
-Regular red tomatoes
-Peas (the strip on the left coming up really well)
-Chinese Kale
-Broccoli
-Lettuce
-I have also planted a mix of flowers around the perimeter

Can't wait to start seeing some grown vegetables!

Any advice for my first garden?

Congrats on your first garden!

Thanks! It's pretty fun so far. Can't wait to produce some produce!

That's exciting :) I can't wait until I finish my first veggie garden! I have to finish my flower garden first though haha!

Nice! Soon you will have fresh vegetable on your dinner table!

Think of growing taller plants that might need support and block sunlight at the back - thinking the tomatoes - can easily grow 5ft. Plants do need a bit of space so you might want to thin those peas. Veggies are fun, so enjoy.

Yeah that makes sense! - thanks for the tips!

Following and hi from Australia. Fantastic effort but the plants will outgrow the space they are in very soon so my suggestion is make more beds ans transplant some soon so you can enjoy your harvest.
