Brisbane summer flowers.

Happy New year Steemers....it's been a while.

We were lucky enough to get some rain in between posts which has made me super busy in the gardens but I've still managed to get a few floral snaps.

Here they are,

The beautiful Hibiscus tiliaceus never disappoints this time of year and can be found along the coast line of South East Queensland in great numbers.

Another coastal legend is this Carpobrotus glaucescens, commonly known as "Pig Face."

And finally some Roses...
To be honest I'm not having the best year with them so I'll blame the lack of rain hahah.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my sex organs Steemers,
Happy gardening and hodl,
Sam.

Bright colours. That pig face is nice...That's the one that closes up when the sun goes away right?

To be honest I'm not sure if they close up at night...

I think they do, when the sun goes down. A desert plant (semi-arid) I think.

Most mesembs are only open at certain times of day. Some in the morning, others the afternoon and still others at night. A small minority are always open. I dont know which category pig faces fall into

We have pigfaces near us and my mother in law has them...I see them open and close at times so that's where I get my information from...Not from any understanding of botany...I've been less to believe it's sun-related though. They are a vibrant colour though huh? I guess they adapt as they need, like anything in nature.

Yes, my roses only really bloom well if there's enough rain

Can water and fert all we like but nothing beats the rains!

Hmmm, I'll have to go to the beach at night time to get to the bottom of this 😉
