Hi fellas? How you're doing? How is your job? I hope that all is well. So, as usual, in every post, I always discuss retro video games from different platforms. Most of the video games that I reviewed come from Sega platform collections. Especially for last two days, I reviewed Sonic the Hedgehog series. You can check them on my blog. This time, I also continue to review Sonic the Hedgehog series named Sonic Adventure. So, to save our time, let's review this video game.

Sonic Adventure

Sonic Adventure is an action platform video game that was released in 1998. The developer of this video game was Sonic Team while the publisher was Sega. The storyline of this video game continues the story of Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower, Knuckles the Echidna, Amy Rose, Big the Cat, and E-102 Gamma in their seeking to collect the seven Chaos Emeralds and defeat Doctor Robotnik who want to make chaos by unleashing an ancient evil.

Due to the cancellation of releasing Sonic X-treme, Sonic Team started to develop Sonic Adventure in 1997. This game was created within 10 months by a 60-member development team. The drawing inspiration came from the real locations which are Peru and Guatemala. The character of this video game was redesigned by Yuji Uekawa to make it more suitable for 3D. Then, several features were added in this video game in order to take the advantages of the Dreamcast hardware.

Gameplay

The player control protagonists characters to defeat Doctor Robotnik and his robot army. Doctor Robotnik and his armies look for the seven magical Chaos Emerald and the evil entity Chaos. There are six characters that can be used for the game. But, the characters are locked and the player needs to unlock the characters first as the game is going on. Each character has their own story and attributes.

For example, Sonic the Hedgehog can perform a spin dash, homing attack, and light-speed dash. Then, another characters name Miles "Tails" Prower can fly, swim, and attack robots using his tails. The next is Knuckles the Echidna who can glide, climb walls, and punch. Then, Amy Rose can defeat enemies by using her hammer. Next character is a Big the Cat that is slow and carries a fishing rod that he can cast, and the last is named E-102 Gamma that can shoot laser beams.

At the beginning of the game, the player is put in one of several Adventure Fields. There is a voice of Tikal the Echidna who guides and instructs the players. The player must explore the Adventure Fields to find the entrances to levels that are called Action Stages. Some of the entrances must be opened by using keys that are hidden in the Adventure Field.

Once the player reaches an Action Stage, they get a specific objective that must be completed. The objective is different for each character. For example, Sonic and Amy must get at the level's end. Then, Tails must reach the end before Sonic. Next is Knuckles who must discover three hidden shards of the Master Emerald. Then, Big must fish for his pet named frog and the last is Gamma who must struggle on his way through stages by utilizing projectiles as a defense.

PLOT

A tribe of echidnas lives on Angel Island in harmony with the Chao. The Master Emerald is protected Tikal. The echidnas try to use the power of the Master Emerald and massacre the Chao in the process. Horrified, Chaos uses the power of the Chaos Emeralds to change himself to be a Perfect form and destroy the island. But he is stopped when Tikal seals herself and Chaos inside the Master Emerald.

Thousands of years later, Doctor Robotnik splits the Master Emerald in order to fulfill his scheme to gain the seven Chaos Emeralds and release Chaos and Tikal. Knuckles starts to seek the pieces of the Master Emerald. Meanwhile, Sonic and Tails attempt to cease Robotnik who retrieves the Chaos Emeralds. Gamma is activated by Robotnik to discover Froggy, who has eaten a Chaos Emerald and is being pursued by his master named Big. A Flicky that has a Chaos Emerald is found and named Birdie by Amy. Robotnik' forces catch Amy and Birdie. Then, Amy tries to persuades Gamma to not work for Robotnik and help her to escape instead.

My Opinion

I have explained some important information about this video game. But, I have not played this video game yet. I tried to find the online version but I got nothing. I'm sorry that I cannot provide a link like usual I did. According to the reviewers, the visuals and gameplay were awesome. But, the reviewers did not like its camera controls and glitches. Then, the storyline of this video game is mainstream. In short, I give 8.0 of 10 for this amazing video game. I hope you enjoy reading my article and see you in the next post.
