Take a look a Classic: Rise of Nations
Rise of Nations
Rise of Nations, the first Big Huge Games video game (One of the creators of this series Brian Reynolds, designer of video games such as Civilization II or Colonization), for which this company would become known, and would be distributed by Microsoft Games Studios, which competed with different games of the time as Warcraft III, Starcraft, Dune 2000, Empire Earth, Age of Empire II among others. The game can be enjoyable because we can control a number of different civilizations (Russian, Chinese, Persian, British, Dutch, among others), build buildings and your army and fight with them against our enemies (Raising a viable strategy and a balance between the different combat units), among other things. The video game brings about 24 civilizations (With the expansion of Thrones & Patriots), all these civilizations are different with different special units and various advantages that will help us during the game both early and late, and we will be in some games or conquest campaign quite fun, where we must win the same by fulfilling the objectives set in them.
History
We begin in the Ancient Age, where the first civilizations arise as the Chinese, the Romans, the Egyptians, the Persians, the Indians, among others. As the game begins and consequently the research of new technologies begins to obtain advantages, we will be advancing of ages, from the previous mentioned Ancient Age, passing through the Middle Ages up to the Age or Century of the Information that is our present epoch
We begin with the Ancient Age where one of its most representative civilizations is the Ancient Greece where were the different Greek Cities States or Polis such as Sparta, Athens, Thebes, Argos, Corinth, Elis, Macedonia, Mycenae, Tirinth, Flegias, among others. Which despite sharing the same language and culture, had an organization very different from each other, for example speaking of the two most important, mainly Sparta (Although sometimes is not considered as a Greek Poli, because it had no walls unlike the rest of them) was ruled by a Monarchy, while Athens was ruled by a Democracy, this is a small example although we can also mention its difference between education its citizens for example, in Sparta both men and women were educated mainly for war and had the same rights, in Athens they were educated mainly in the development of literature, and different economic tasks, and women did not have the same rights as men. Even so, despite their differences, it should be emphasized that they united against common enemies such as the Persian Empire, among others.
From the Middle Ages until the Enlightenment (also known as the Age of Enlightenment), Spanish civilization would be one of the most influential due to the foundation of the Kingdom of Spain (Fusion between the Kingdoms of Castile and Aragon), conquered the last Muslim bastion in Western Europe stopping the advance of them and would send their explorers and conquerors as Cristobal Colon, Américo Vespucio, Juan Ponce de León, Francisco Pizarro, Hernán Cortés, among others; where they would look for new lands to expand their trade routes and would discover for the European Continent; America, Philippines and Australia.
And in the Modern Age until today, we find two great powers United States of America and the Soviet Union, which dominated the political landscape of the twentieth century, in a career both military, scientific, technological, space and even sports. Where they fought to obtain most of the influence of the modern world with different pacts and alliances such as NATO (North Atlantic Treaty) and the Warsaw Pact, and there were many moments that gave tension to the entire world such as the Korean War, Cuban Revolution and the subsequent Cuban Missile Crisis, the Vietnam War, the Afghanistan War, among others.
Playability
The videogame consists of being able to properly manage the resources available in the game (Food, Wood, Metal and Money), to train different military units and form an army to lead against our enemies until destroying all their buildings, or build several Wonders and be able to win the game in this way (depending on whether we allow wonder score). The game provides various attack or defense strategies, and different tactics will have to be executed depending on the civilization we use in the game; each of these civilizations has unique technologies and units, which will be available at different times depending on the civilization and will be important during the course of the game both early and late.

Ah, this is one of my favorite old RTS games. It really feels like one of the best takes on the larger time-scale, giving a feel more like Civilization without the massive hours-upon-hours long games of Empire Earth.
