Atlas reactor is now free to play, Well sort of.
Good news gamers! Atlas Reactor is finally going free to play, well more free to play than it was during its first season that is. Don’t know what I am talking about or what Atlas Reactor is? Let me explain.
Atlas reactor is a multiplayer moba-esque tactical team based arena brawler. Wow that is a mouthful. It is essentially a MOBA like league of legends and dota, but without the reflexes required to master those games. You see, the game works on a turn based system like civilisation or other similar tactics based games, but everyone, your team and your opponents, have the same turn, thus resulting is an engaging and intense experience while playing. misjudge where your enemy is going to be when your attack is going to go off? Wander into the line of sight of an enemy waiting to get an attack off on you? Welcome to Atlas Reactor! But above all the mistakes you could make, the awesome moments when you get an ability to connect and get a triple kill on the enemy team.. A thing of magic, Nothing beats that feeling. The win conditions are simple, The first team to 5 kills or the team with the most kills in 20 turns wins. You have a 4 person team and are tasked with eliminating the enemy team. There are 3 classes of heroes: Firepower, Support, and Frontline. And each character has their own unique personality and charm. Want to be a robot dog? What about a fish creature named doctor fin? You too, can have this in your life! It is honestly an amazing game, and the first of it’s kind that i am actually genuinely good at.
Doctor Finn.
Now enough about my undying love for this game. Let me explain how this new free to play model will work. Previously, the game needed to be bought with a free mode that you could use to try the game out for an unlimited amount of time, It has the same type of alternating free hero roster that games like league of legends and heroes of the storm have, but with the exception of the inability to acquire any heroes permanently without purchasing the game, which in my opinion is well worth it, but it is difficult to get to know each character if you lose it the next week and simply don't have the cash to buy the game. Well that is a thing of the past, as of today (17 January) Atlas Reactor is starting season two and is going full free to play, with the option to buy the base game that includes all current and future characters. What this means is that there is finally a way to purchase characters in game just by playing games and earning a new currency called Brynn, The Skywarden. Additionally, they will be adding a new character, a new mode and they will be adding more characters in the near future, Players will earn a new currency called Flux just by playing the game. With Flux you can unlock:Freelancers, Mod Tokens, and Master Skins which you can still buy using ISO, The new temporary game mode has been added where you queue up and all players will be given a Random Freelancer to play in deathmatch and extraction mode has been removed from custom games. Being able to earn and unlock individual Freelancers was one of the most requested features from the community. Players will also be able to purchase individual Freelancers – Prices will range from $2.99 to $7.49. The “All Freelancer”, “All Freelancer Pro”, and “Ultimate Reactor” packs will still be available if you’re looking to grab all Freelancers, current and future, in one go. If you purchase one of these packs, you will get ISO for each Freelancer you already own, speeding up your ability to grab your favorite cosmetics! The competitive community for Atlas Reactor has been an incredibly passionate group of people, so they are bringing that experience to everyone. All players will now have access to the Ranked queues provided they’ve unlocked a minimum of 10 Freelancers and played 50 pvp matches and for all the completionists out there, they are also introducing the “Roster Bonus” – a bonus to XP earned from playing. It’s based on the percentage of the Freelancer pool you own. Players who have purchased any of the packs will always get 100% of the Roster Bonus, while a player who owns 5 out of 25 freelancers would receive a 20% bonus. Pretty cool right?
Brynn
So why not pick it up and give it a go? It has a low skill floor and a high skill ceiling, for any of you wanting to try the competitive scene. I highly recommend playing this game even just to give it a try and see if it is for you. Its free now so it won't cost you anything.

PS: This was my first game of atlas reactor and is a testament to how easy it is to start out, also, as you will see, at this point I had only played 2 hours. I am up to about 12 at the moment.
