Games coming in March 2019 - Gaming Top 5 - Part 92

in #gaming6 years ago

Another month, another list of games for you to look out for when they release over the next 4 weeks.

title.jpg

As usual, I take a look at some of the most anticipated games being released this coming month and select 5 of which will be the ones you should be playing. March is a very crowded month this year for game releases so there may just be a second list to accompany this one.

5 – Tropico 6

PC, Mac, Linux
March 2nd

  • I briefly went over this game at the very end of last year as one of the games being released. And now it is that time and it will be one that fans of the ''city building'' genre will enjoy to no end.
Unlike its predecessor, this time round you will have multiple islands to take of and manage, with a big emphasis on how they will interconnect on a political, industrial and commercial level.
This game also brings in a new mode that has not been seen in this franchise that will take the management system to a whole new level. Blueprint mode will allow you to plan out parts of your map with selected buildings, despite not having the resources available, when they are, it will then construct said building. It may seem like a small thing, but it will help to stream line the overall gameplay.
I do like city building and I believe this will be one to compare others too.

4 – The Sinking City.

** PC, Xbox One, PS4**
March 21st

  • If like me you enjoyed the recent 'Call of Cthulhu' which was heavily based on the book and board game of the same name, then you will also love this title as it borrows many of the same visuals and mechanics, and the whole game is inspired by the works of H Lovecraft, who wrote, Call of Cthulhu. This was after a falling out with the publisher and they decided to go it alone, and with that came this awesome looking game.
There is very little known about the story of this game, but the visuals look amazing to say the least, it is another gritty tale inside the world that Lovecraft created in his books, and in the devs previous game, they pulled it off beautifully, now they have taken that same stylized look and improved on it... I just hope that the story lives up to the hype.

3 – The Division 2.

** PC, Xbox One, PS4**
March 15th

  • The current market is flooded with open world games, but there is only a few that are able to stand out from the crowd. The first Division game, while not terrible was also not that overly impressive as many of the features in that game can be seen in many other titles. That did not stop it from being popular though thanks to its unique multiplayer mechanics. Now that we have the second entry is this relatively new franchise. Regardless, Ubisoft did wonders with Assassins Creed Odyssey after the very bland Origins. So there is still hope for this franchise yet.
The game has a mature rating now and has much more violent content than previous, lets just hope it isn't another Ubisoft Dud.

2 – Generation Zero

** PC, Xbox One, PS4**
March 26th

  • As I have said, the gaming industry is flooded with open world games for you to pick and choose from, so standing apart is difficult, yet I believe this game will have that certain something to do exactly that.
Getting away from the predominantly ''American'' themed narratives that plague most action games, this one is based in Sweden in early 1980, and its inhabitants have simply gone, with giant machines roaming about, and not much is known about them. It is a mixture of survival, action and stealth with an intriguing narrative. Oh and it will be full of 80's nostalgia.
Its a good spin on the genre and when it can be played as a solo or up to a 4 player co-op, it sounds like its exactly how Overkills Walking Dead game should have been. But instead of zombies, we are greeted with machines.

1 – Devil May Cry 5

** PC, Xbox One, PS4**
March 8th

  • We have been waiting for too damn long for this game to be released and it is now finally going to see the light of day.
If I was to say ''Hack and Slash Games'' the first thing that should pop into your head should be the DMC franchise. It all but wrote the book on what a hack and slash game should be.
After the ''soft'' reboot game that was DMC, released on the 360 and PS3 in 2013, it didn't get the fans of the franchise excited enough and the rebooted franchise was shelved permanently. Instead the devs got to work on what us the fans, really wanted, another chapter in the original franchise. And we have been waiting for over 10 years for a new entry in the DMC series, and now, finally it will be landing and it looks fucking awesome. And this is down to the game being developed using a modified version of the game engine that powers the unbelievably good, Resident Evil 2 Remake. It even shares a few of the same mechanics that make that game awesome.
The trailers are very reminiscent of what we all remember made the DMC games as good as they are, but with the obvious graphical improvements.
It is a hack and slash game that is fast paced and plain awesome. Anyone can pick this game up and instantly like it and play for countless hours.

There are many more games coming this month with many, and I mean many indie games too. It is hard to pick out which one in particular I would play first if given a chance, but I would say apart from being excited about DMC5, I am very interested with Generation Zero. There have been many survival, open world games in the past, but none have ever peaked my interest and most of the time, they end up doing badly. With this game being set in a different country with a different problem than the usual cliché we see in these types of games, it could persuade me to pick it up and put some serious time into it.

Thanks for Reading.

Which game are you most looking forward too?

Probably the only two games I really was going to keep on eye on was Devil May Cry 5 and Tropico 6, just concerning the (eclectic lifestyle of) games I do play. But upon hearing Generation Zero, now that’s definitely a game I wanna see pan out. Like seriously, if this post’s formatting would’ve allowed it I would like to see that Overkill Joke expanded way much more. But it’s obvious that this is a public board of attention and not “crack a joke with that critique” landia. Withal (even so), I like to share a few opinions of the games that are shared here.

Tropico 6: concerning me, I’ve always loved sandbox-y Real Time Strategy (okay, look, Tropico fits the bill for RTS) games. Equally so, Tropico was my favorite out of Turn-based Sandbox Civilization games and defined sandbox (with many interchanging mechanisms) RTS Paradox Games. So having played Tropico 5 and knowing there was huge potential to explode for this game and seeing the recent gameplay of it, this gonna be a great launch. Now let’s see if we developed hyope or hype (just consumeristic overdrive to get but have no real expectations).

DMC 5: Now I have only been able to play DMC 4, but I want to really see how this pans out since I have seen DMC 1-3 via YouTube and want to know where DMC 5 will take us. More hacking-n-slashing please, along with my rip-n-tear shake from the Doom2016-n-Eternal restaurant!

Division 2: eh... gonna keep a quiet eye on this one.

Basically the open-World Cthulhu game: I’m waiting and I want to see this be fleshed out. Hopefully be inspired to be its own thing, be good fan canon, be popular with the HP Lovecraft community and push gaming forward when it comes to Eldritch horror. Not a high standard? Well I shall get to ready the Dunwich Horror and the Call of Cthulhu to prepare me, hopefully Hasturr or the minions of such do not just so conveniently leave a yellow sigil somewhere to corrupt me. Whistles in eldritch

Generation Zero: gonna keep it real chief, I wanna see this one grow, I wanna nurture it, I wann see it do something amazing. I want it to protecc open-worlds but also deflecc bad trends in gaming. I wanna see it make the Publishers of Overkill software regret rushing out to the Public to announce the Walking Dead game and then forcing Overkill to work overtime as they were working on PayDay 2. But most importantly, if this goes well, then I wanna see Overkill be bought off by this studio so maybe a PayDay 3 will come so I can get back to robbing and stealing shit.

So congrats on that @curie upvote, happy gaming and happy steeming!

hay dude. cheers for the reply, really appreciate it. There is always room to poke holes ta Overkills walking dead game... lmao. but i am hopeful for generation zero being the open world survival game we all want/need.

Welcome for the comment! ~^^~
Probably much more holes than a regular zombie in Rezy 2 gets when you still keep headshotting them.
But yeah, same her for Gen Ø

I have seen clips of Devil May Cry, looks very awesome, like a classic DMC, Capcom deserved respect for this.

Capcom deserves all the praise in the world for what they did this generation. They listened to the fans, bringing RE back to it's roots and even remaking RE2.

Awesome games in there. March is really going to be fun with all these games coming up. Am really glad you shared them to keep us updated. Your write up was lovely and your pictures were great. Keep up this great work
