It's been almost two years since we received the original Street Fighter V. Since then the Capcom game has evolved a lot, receiving new possibilities and fighters in a gradual way. The progression of this fifth installment has been spectacular, after some beginnings in which suffered from lack of possibilities and a malfunction of their online options . The culmination of the road (for the time being) is this Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, which is actually almost a complete edition of the original title.

This is because it is basically Street Fighter V 'normal', but with the 12 extra characters from seasons 1 and 2 of the game (for a total of 28, plus Sakura temporarily), which come in included in the title, but they are not usable by the user until we 'download' them. We say this because at the same time that the Arcade Edition arrives, the standard game is updated to include the novelties that give name to the special edition. That is to say, the Arcade mode is added, the 2nd V-Trigger for each and every one of the fighters, more game modes are added and, in addition, the face is changed to the game interface so that everything is much clearer. In short, a good handful of news that deserve to be highlighted.

Added Options

The most important is the aforementioned Arcade mode, which offers six different possibilities based on each of the series' numbered games, plus Street Fighter Alpha . In each of the possibilities vary the scenarios, the number of matches, available fighters and even the skins of the fighters, seeking to adapt to what was originally shown in each of the arcade modes. In addition the ends of each fighter have also adapted, and unlocked after each end a nice art, which increases replay value. In short, the proposal in this arcade mode goes beyond simply meet the stipulated, complementing the other possibilities of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition.

The other options that are added are not as stellar, but they serve to complete the possibilities of the game. For example, to Team Combat mode, which confronts groups of five fighters in one-on-one combat, being able to change the rules of the fight. There are also extra options such as Combat Extra, which proposes a specific fight, with a certain reward (a title, for example) in exchange for an entry price or missions, which give us rewards for meeting certain objectives, and that change every day .

To this let us add the options already present in Street Fighter V before, such as the Story mode , training (which now counts the frames and even dyes us when we are vulnerable or not) and online options. All this is the direct heir of the evolution of the Capcom title , so we can expect a much finer online experience (although it is not perfect), with the possibility of joining a combat room, playing even or informal games and a search system for the most efficient games. In the fights that you can play during the test of this Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition without any disconnections, although you may come across some small delay, which has not managed to tarnish the good taste of mouth that the online proposal of this game leaves us.

Gameplay

The gameplay of the title does not change with respect to the original, whose base was already extraordinary, reinventing the series itself with new mechanics and movements to avoid statism in the series. However Capcom wanted to go a little further and has added a V-Trigger per fighter , so that all fighters have two different possibilities, which comes to solve the imbalance in this existing power previously. They are just as useful as Ryu's new super parry, the ability to battle Zangief's super or increase Cammy's mobility. In general, there is a twist to this mechanic, which is now even more relevant than it already was, and adds an extra touch of variety to the combats of the Capcom game.

It is a pity that this Arcade Edition does not include all the contents already released of Street Fighter V, since from we will find multiple scenarios that ask us to go through the box to be able to use them freely, as well as several special suits. And they are not exactly cheap ... Something similar happens with the characters of the 3rd season, who will arrive following the same model as the previous 2 seasons, that is, they will cost a lot of in-game points, or we can go through the box to have them. At least, Sakura will be available for free for a while, at no initial cost.

That is, Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is all that this game should have been a couple of years ago , in its initial release. Almost all the problems that were experienced then (short template of characters, online instability, few game modes) have been solved, and even has gone further by perfecting the playable title proposal. Now, yes, this is the Street Fighter V that we deserved.

Mode

The Story mode , which is divided into small individual stories for each character (including new ones) and a general story that includes scenes created with the game engine. Both this mode and the new characters do not come standard with the disc, so you have to download them for free from the Store (in total, they are 21 gigs of nothing). If you bought the game in its digital version, a single download will suffice to have it all.

The offline game modes are completed with a choice of Tests (consisting of chaining specific combos of each fighter, quite advanced) and a Survival mode, with which we have to overcome rounds of 10, 30, 50 or 100 bouts to win juicy rewards .

With this covered, we move to online modes, which have also been improved. Apart from the classic match ranked (with which we can go climbing in the world ranking of fighters) or informal, now we can enter a Challenges mode that includes the Missions mode and the additional Combat mode. The first consists of small challenges that give us a kick Money Fight (knock down the opponent 10 times, get 100,000 points in Arcade mode, etc). As these challenges change over time, it is necessary to be connected to the Internet to take advantage of them. On the other hand, the additional Combat mode invites us to fight against a special and very powerful enemy, which also changes over time. Now, for example, the duel against Shin Akuma is available.

The fun of the matter is that the number of attempts can be limited and, each time we fight, we have to spend a quantity of Fight Money. In return, the reward can be very, very sweet, like 100,000 experience points for our character.

So, first goal fulfilled with Street Fighter V Arcade Edition : finally we have a very, very complete base game (28 fighters is the same number offered by Injustice 2 , for example), which also allows us to unlock extra costumes or titles by own merits, simply overcoming challenges.

Conclusion

The 'almost' definitive version of Street Fighter V comes full of new features, finally turning the Capcom game into what should have been from the start. There are almost no weak points in the playable proposal that is offered in this pack, becoming one of the most attractive options of the genre at this time.

Happy Gaming!!!
