My Favorite YouTube Gaming Channels, part 1

in #gaming7 years ago

I spend far more time than I'd like to admit watching gaming channels on YouTube. There are flavors for every kind of gamer and lots of big personalities. Here's part 1 of the channels that I love most. Naturally, most of them are retro gaming related.

Part 1 focuses on larger channels with at least 100k subscribers. Part 2 will shine a light on up and coming channels between 50k-100k and part 3 will give some love to channels with under 50k subscribers that deserve more viewers.

Rerez

With high production values and interesting content, Rerez is very well made. Topics are varied, from tearing apart horrible clone systems to discussion of modern topics, its always entertaining.

Game Sack

Another channel with TV quality production value, Game Sack releases new videos about every other week, but they're typically at least 25 minutes and very well produced and edited. Each episode focuses on exploring a console's library or games that fit a theme, like HD remasters or games that push hardware limits. Its full of fun writing and humor too.

The Game Chasers

Follow Jay and Billy as they hunt for retro video games from flea markets, to game stores and wherever else they might go exploring. Extremely entertaining and fun to watch. It also gives newer game collectors ideas about how to find games and how to deal with people when you're buying and selling.

AlphaOmegaSin

NSFW :) A gaming channel with some teeth, AlphaOmegaSin is angry, crude and profane, but in the best way. Not one to watch around the kids or at work. He's a retro gamer and collector, but also discusses modern gaming news with his own style.

Happy Console Gamer

The Happy Console Gamer's channel touches on a little bit of everything. There's a lot of discussion about gaming news, but also many standalone episodes that focus on various topics for both modern and retro gaming, as well as nerdy culture like movies, comics and anime.

Arlo

Once you get past the fact that he looks like Cookie Monster, Arlo gives some great commentary about modern gaming with a heavy focus on Nintendo. Great writing and often humorous, its a really nice light and non offensive channel.

Gamester81

Retro games and hardware, in addition to new retro systems is the main focus of this channel. Host John is very mellow and relaxing, like the Bob Ross of retro gaming channels.
