razer electra v2 usb Gaming headset review

Sound
Sound wise they are pretty good fair bass good clean mids and highs sometimes slightly muddy but forgivable. I find I use the bass boost all the time but if you push the dial just the tiniest bit too far and the bass becomes a distorted mess
The virtual 7.1 is fairly convincing as you go around game wise although I often prefer to turn off the software when playing videos and music as the virtual 7.1 can detract from listening to certain type of music/ video.
They sound better when I clamp each ear cup with my hand due to the fit of the earcup and lack of adjustment. There is definite sound bleed from the top of the earcup due to the fitting.
Comfort
They are mostly comfortable unless you game all day and then they make the tops of my ears hurt. The earcups are on the loose side again seems lack of adjustment is the culprit. The ear cups seem tighter at the bottom and looser at the top and wearing glasses does not help here. It might be down to the size of my head and maybe fine if you have a bigger head to stretch the phones out more.
After a period of time they certainly heat up inside and start to sweat a bit but not uncontrollably so.
Big Niggles
I found the box a bit of a challenge and very nearly cut myself on the plastic part of the box and ended opening them back to front.
The worst thing is the metal frame and the cheap feeling plastic because every time you turn your head slightly your clothing rubs on the plastic producing a noise that grates but worse if you knock the metal plate it really rings and that is the most unpleasant thing.
There should be a rubber dampener fitted on the metal frame like their competitors do to reign this in as it could be a real deal breaker.
Extras
The lighting is ok you can turn it off and mainly you don’t see it of course when you’re wearing them.
Cable length is good but it is also bright green very much a razer theme going on here.
conclusion
as a budget gaming headset I think they are worth a look but with out the dampener I would give them a 5.5/10 also purely due to fitting issues and the ringing metal frame. Solve these and they would deserve 8/10
