Remembering my very first MMMORPG, Asheron's Call
Asheron's Call, you never forget your first love. I played many MMO's up until 2015, but Asheron's Call will always remain my favorite. I played it from 1999 to 2005. The community is what made that game great. I made dozens and dozens of friends in that game. Turbine never missing a month, adding new content for free until the very end. Can you name a MMO in history that was adding free content each and every months ? It was not just content it was a never ending story.
Some of the oldest players might remember this. Back in 1999 when the game launch. The game was played through the MSN gaming zone.
Asheron's Call loading screen. Players knows this as portal space.
The scale of the world map was epic in proportion. At that time it was by far the biggest open world MMO map.
One of the most familiar enemy in Dereth. Probably the first thing a newbie will fight. The Drudge.
Another familiar enemy, the Golem. These guys came in various forms, mud (picture), water, granite, obsidian, etc.
The infamous Ash gromnie. The guys could one shot newbies and even seasoned players with their overpowered lightning attack. Very fast and nasty.
The lugians. Who never fought in the Lugian Citadel ? That kind in particular would throw boulder at you from very far. Sometime you'll die not even seeing what hit you.
In the snowy hills of Qualaba'r, you could find the Mattekars. This type in particular was hunted to extinction. It's hide, one of the most prized item in the game.
The Hoary Mattekar Robe. The most powerful Robe in the game due to it's high elemental resistance.
