The FIFA release is still very much anticipated by the fans. After the test of his best enemy PES 2018, here are our impressions on FIFA 18 in Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

One afternoon with FIFA 18 on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch

For those who know me a minimum, you know that I am a fan of PES at heart. However I am a fan of football before everything and I had to test FIFA 18, especially with the arrival of a Switch version, to finally have it everywhere with you. I will not do you a classical test this said since you have certainly already read, seen or heard. I will just give you my impressions by articulating that around the differences between the Xbox One and Switch versions.

An immense and unsurprising content

Neive content, FIFA 18 returns us with its classic content but hyper complete, on Xbox One at least. Besides the usual modes, we find the following (very good) adventures of Alex Hunter, our future star of the plant foot. Slightly improved but hyper-immersive, this is an ideal way to increase the lifespan.

Switch-level on the other hand, you will have to settle for classic modes, career, and FUT. No adventure mode for the Nintendo version. Just as you will not have the opportunity to play matches online against a friend. You will have to face strangers. No doubt this will be fixed with a future patch because for a version intended for cooperation by its portable mode, it is a little strange.

Alex Hunter is back!

Finally, as usual, new licenses are noted as the 3rd German division as well as all the other usual divisions. We can see the arrival of some new stadiums also like the new stadium of Atletico Madrid. FIFA remains the undisputed master of content. Is that enough?

A gameplay closer to the playground than tikitaka

on all that is good but on the level sensations it gives what ? I'm not going to tell you that FIFA 18 is completely bad but I prefer by far PES 2018. For the good reason and simple reason that this episode is very (too) insane crazy in the game and makes the construction of the actions really take a head. The set is very rough and sometimes looks more like a provincial level game than anything else. We take pleasure but we are quickly frustrated. The defenses are sometimes picked up (especially on Switch)and sometimes we run diagonally to the guard. Once arrived in front of this one ... let's say we have already seen better. Even if I agree that it is necessary to make the game accessible, with a little practice, the matches finish regularly in tennis score.

In the game, it's sometimes a little rough but nice!

Last small difference viewpoint playability between the Xbox One / PS4 and Switch is in the controller. I can only advise you to have several pairs of joycons if you intend to make a party with a buddy. Indeed, it is possible to play with only one but you will quickly understand that the maneuverability is likely to be more than perilous. This however offers the chance to be able to take your Switch and make a match with a buddy, wherever you are. Less obvious with other versions ...

Frostbite vs Ignite ... there is no match

Graphically, it is clear that the Xbox One version surpasses the Switch version. First, because the first one benefits from the Frostbite engine when the other still uses the old Ignite graphics engine. Let's be honest, the Switch version is far from ugly and turns out to be hyper-fluid, whether in a portable mode or on your TV. There are fewer details, less grass finish, less light effects (very well managed on Xbox One) and less recognizable players but is it serious? Note that the modeling of the faces of FIFA 18 on Xbox One, which is far from being missed, is sometimes strange. The faces lack finesse, some players seemingly puffy. For the rest, the game is very nice to watch, the movements very fluid and realistic and even the stands are really lively

The game is nice for the eye, including on Switch

They run the annual licenses

In view of all that I have just said, I ask myself a question and I think that it might require a substantive article. Should not we find another solution to the annual licenses that end up bringing us a big DLC for the price of a new game? Do the changes made from one version to another deserve such an "investment"? We end too often with unfinished games, requiring a Day 1 update and which are increasingly asking us to invest as it is in DLC or to have content faster. Players are no longer fooled and the future will tell us if developers are going to have to change their guns.

Amazing review,
But I am still bothered, wanting to know why few of the players look like they are squatting..

Lol, try playing the game.
