Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell : Conviction #REVIEW NO.40
The story in this game takes the setting a few years after Splinter Cell: Double Agent. If before you did not have time to finish or even play it, then you do not have to worry about the confusion in this story. Essentially more or less like this, Sam's daughter was killed, he killed his best friend, Lambert and he came out from Third Echelon, a government organization that had he considered home for many years.
Now, he got a proof that could take him to the killer of his daughter and he decided to return to action. But when he was just planning to look for the killer of his daughter, instead he returned to deal with the killer who has plans to launch a terrorist attack on Washington. It seems that Sam's work is now more than just revenge for his daughter again, but also to save the world.
One thing that will definitely make all the gamers happy here is the absence of loading screen during the game, unless you die. Starting from the game starts, you will never have time to sit sweet and listen to the story of what happened. This game is really full of action. Starting from the game and the cutscene, all combined perfectly. I am sure you will find it difficult to release this game after playing it after a while.
Previously, Splinter Cell was always synonymous with stealth and spies, so this time Sam was more like a wounded wolf ready to pounce and kill off all his enemies. Sam will be lurking out of the darkness, looking for the right time to attack and instantly kill the enemy at high speed. There may be a dozen armed enemies and they are soldiers who have undergone quite strict and extensive training. But it's they who should be worried, because who else can face a former best agent who ever existed in Third Echelon? Even Third Echelon himself has given a nickname that fits perfectly with Sam, Panther is also equally deadly.
In the past, you will be preoccupied with a parameter that will show whether you are safely hidden in the shadow or not. But now, Ubisoft has to change so that it becomes much easier to play, although I must confess I sometimes can make you a little dizzy. If at any time you are hiding (of course in the shadow of darkness), then the image on your screen will be black and white. It is a marker of its own which states that where you were completely safe. When you show up again (out of hiding), the world around you will come back filled with color.
Here, one of the things that need to be taken into account if you want to hide is certainly the lights and shadows. If you need a shadow of darkness to hide, all you have to do is shoot the light source and have a shadow ready for your hiding place. Another important element is a place to hide. Press LT (Left Trigger), then automatically Sam would immediately squat. When near Sam no hiding places (walls, wooden boxes or so), it will immediately move closer to the wall. Even when you are hiding (while pressing the LT button), you can also move the hiding place. Exclamation is not it? Perhaps this is one of the nicest hiding systems we have ever encountered so far.
If at one time, the location of the hiding place Sam caught, then the best way is to immediately escape to a safer place. That way, Sam will leave a shadow from his last place and this can be used to deceive the enemy. The enemy will only know the place as Sam's last hideout and they will continue to blindly shoot the location. While on the other hand, Sam can immediately settle around the opponent and immediately finish off his enemy from behind.
One system that we think might be a bit strange here, but still interesting enough is the Mark & Execute system, where Sam will be able to kill multiple enemies at once with just one push of a button. All you have to do before it is to mark the victim (until the victim has a red arrow, if it is still white, there is a chance his enemy will not die) and press the Y button to finish them. Easy? Wait a minute. To be able to use this system, Sam had to kill another enemy with his bare hands before he could run the system (there is a kind of bar that indicates that Sam can do Mark & Execute). The problem is, to be able to commit murder using empty hands, you have to be very careful because sometimes, there is your movement that will result in the location you are caught enemy.
No need to worry if gamers are afraid not to run it all smoothly, because at the beginning of the game, you will immediately be given instructions on how to play this game smoothly and steadily. Single-player campaign provided is really very exciting and very dear to miss. Our only complaint is the long game that is quite fast. Do you think Conviction is just a single-player campaign? Very very wrong. Conviction provides more than just a single-player campaign to pamper gamers. There are co-op campaign, Hunter mode, Infiltration mode and Last Stand mode. Plus, there is a challenge system in the game that you can use to test your ability to execute your stealth attacks.
Co-op mode also deserves more attention. Maybe even better when compared with the single-player campaign. You can play it along with your friends using split-screen, System Link and online support. Together with your friends, you will play an agent Archer and Ketrel in an attempt to rediscover the missing WMD. Both of these characters basically have the same ability with Sam, but to be safe, they must work together.
The cool thing is, if one of you dies, then the game is over. Essentially, you have to work together. What's interesting here is that you can kill the enemy together and to be honest, the pictures we saw at that time were very cool and managed to impress us for a moment. Fortunately we can still pause to make a review of this one.
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction is a game that is completely different when compared with the previous. Sam has been transformed into a sinister killer and his enemies must be terrified of a Sam Fisher. Games that must be played and not to be missed.
