Classic Gaming: The Neo Geo
There was a time that Neo Geo basically invaded arcades by storm and this was due to a rather inventive system that the company (SNK) designed to attract purchases on the part of an arcade owner. They made it possible to swap carts inside the machine and cabinets were now capable of playing 4 (and later 6) different titles.

source
This seems like a rather silly advancement in today's terms since it is possible now to purchase an arcade cabinet that has hundreds if not thousands of games pre-installed. However, in 1990 having a cabinet that could play 4 different titles for just slightly more than a single-title cabinet, was a very big deal.

source
Games like Fatal Fury were wildly popular and for the most part were graphically superior to most other fighting games that existed. Of course Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter 2 were definitely the kings of the arcades at the time, but Fatal Fury and a number of other similar fighting games were always part of every arcade lineup. The Neo Geo machines were a much safer investment on the part of the owners since other titles could be bundled in as well and even swapped out when new, more popular games were released rather than being forced to purchase an entirely new cabinet.

source
Most of the units would also feature Magician Lord as an option as well, which was an extremely well done action-adventure platformer that at least at the time, was one of the most graphically appealing titles of its type.
This is all fine and dandy but one thing that not many people had the resources to take advantage of was this: You could buy a stand-alone console for your house and the games were EXACTLY the same as their arcade counterparts since the technology behind the hardware was nearly identical.

source
This monstrosity was not held by very many people because in 1991 it had a MSRP of $650 dollars which today is more than a cool grand. The fun doesn't end there as far as expenses are concerned since each additional title would set you back around $200 each!
Ridiculous! Right? I mean what kind of nerd would buy this thing? My next door neighbor did and even though I loved video games (still do) this seemed an exceptionally crazy amount of money to spend on games. I dunno how dude even had that much money.

source
look at that monster. you would never misplace your Neo Geo carts since they were the size of a toaster and weighed 20 pounds
Obviously, the Neo Geo home consoles didn't exactly sell like hotcakes. This turned especially bad for SNK when the industry switched over to 3-D games at the start of the first person shooter age because the system was incapable of switching over to 3-D as the hardware was always intended to be a super-crisp 2-D engine. Despite this, Neo Geo remained a decent force in the arcade industry until the mid-to-late 90's.
However, one could argue that the arcade industry as a whole was dying right around that same time.

source
There is one particular game that saw very limited release called Neo Turf Masters that if you have it at all you can easily sell it for over $10,000. An unopened new cartridge setup will earn you over $50,000. Can't find the cart but you have the box it came in? That alone will fetch you a cool $900.
I love video games too, but this is just nustso in my book :P
I still play metal slug sometimes

NEO-GEO was one I always went right to playing at hotels/pubs that had them, when I was a kid. I asked my mum for money and she gave me gold coins ($1/$2) to go have fun before dinner. I would love these now, but as you said you can get them done with many more games which is something I should get done someday!
That sure brings back me memories lol

I had one for the shortest time around 14 years ago. Got it off ebay and then quickly sold it after I realised I must have been hexed / lost my mind for a day or something.
By 2005 it was well dated and things had moved on. To have true arcade games in your home was a thing I suppose once..
do you recall how much you paid for it? I bet it was still a lot.
It was, around £300 or so. I would say a lot for a retro machine that was dated.. the carts were stupid prices too.
Probably the reason I dumped it. Wonder what the hardware goes for now?

I remember the first time I saw a Neo Geo machine. It was in the student rec room at a college in New York. I think it only had one game and it was called Midnight Resistance. I still remember being amazed at how awesome the graphics were compared to any other game or machine I had seen up till that point. I remember the price tag was pretty hefty though. I think we probably spent all of our money on quarters for that one game over the three days we were there.
i was stunned when my neighbor had one, but i think that his parents doled out a lot of money for him to play video games. I spent the night a lot as a kid because he always had the best toys.
:) yeah, I can understand that. I had some neighbors that were like that. We never wanted for anything, but there are some parents out there that try to buy love.
ol' midnight resistance. A better graphics Contra clone. I remember that as well. I remember the Neo Geo games for the most part not being very good but they did have the best graphics at the time by far.
Now I expect you to write a post about the Turbo Grafix 16 and then you will have the trifecta under your belt :)
That'll be easy. That was pretty much my favorite 16 bit system and i don't understand why it didn't make it in the states. Too few buttons on the controller i bet.
On steem, have crypto?
Self proclaimed community watchdogs are actually hacking and stalking people.
This group https://steemit.com/@steemspeak is ran by https://steemit.com/@fyrstikken, They are hacking people that enter this discord server https://discordapp.com/invite/sqxV63P . Once you are hacked they profile you long enough to know all of your activities. They introduce workplace gangstalking visits and bring it to your attention cleverly and discretely so only you get it. They are very covert and tricky with everything they say and do in this server. Some claim to have worked for or are working with the FBI and the NSA. Mixed with decommissioned traders and coding criminals, Its a scary mix of creepy people and their intent is to drive you crazy and deplete everything you have ever acquired in life, even your freedom.
My hacking started with them introducing ransomware that has options, dump my coin or delete my system drive. They acknowledged this to me in the server as it happened.
This hacking and stalking is done so they can manipulate the target to pump and dump for them. Threatening and Making victims wear head phones, so nobody in your household can hear thier dramatization towards you. In 2017 this server was side marked as a drama show for entertainment purposes only as an excuse to say whatever they want all the way down to killing a politician. They have a server side command called "hey asshole" making a prompt come up instructing everyone to wear headphones. They want everyone wearing headphones so nobody in your vicinity can hear them mess with you. Fystikken says its because of "mic feedback" but once your a target you get exactly why they make everyone wear headphones.
With headphones on they subliminally direct victims with very low suggestive whispers mixed into their radio shows music. Combine this with them being able to manipulate their own individual outputs sound volume, which they control on the server side, they can pick what individual people hear at any given time. They decide who you hear on the server and change the volume controls for them. They can make some really low or off for those trying to investigate. They control who hears what and know who is who.
This team will find absolutely everything they can about you prior to using their suggestive and threatening program. They Introduce pictures that mean something only to the target, inducing paranoia while they watch and listen thru all of your circumvented devices. They are very aware of what makes you tick. They know your work schedule and use it for work stalking along side of this. I received multiple threatening letters to my work and home addressed to my screen name from this group.
Fyrstikken tells people they are drafted like they did with Facebook at the beginning. He says Facebook was started by forced labor and V2K controlled slaves, just like he creates with his gang for steem and crypto. "Get to work bitch" he tells people once circumvented and intimidated.
If your an agent Investigating them, guess what? You are circumvented. They are high tech, over funded and well connected.
