Metal Gear Solid 5 Phantom Pain - A Pretty Long Introduction (Original-Content)

Hey guys, we recently downloaded Metal Gear Solid 5 as it's free for now as a promotion for PS Plus users. We never played any previous Metal Gear games so we had zero expectations nor did we know what the game is about.

Needless to say, there were some weird freaky stuff.

We took a lot of screenshots to explain what happened in the introduction. All screenshots were taken by ourselves.

The story basically starts with you waking up in a hospital. It was really slow in the beginning, even the rate at which you open your eyes. You basically see a nurse and a doctor.

He then tells you that you've been in a coma for guess how long? 9 freaking years! You then freak out and the dentist injects something into you to get you to sleep.

You woke up a week later and you're allowed to choose your face.

Pretty funny though. Because you appeared as a white guy but you could change your appearance to a black dude. What kind of technology is this? XD

You can change your facial hair as well, your scars and so on. We didn't do much to his face as some of the scars looked so lame.

After choosing your face and your name, the doctor then speaks to you. However, he was killed by an unknown assailant behind him.

The assailant tries to kill you as well but is then killed by another patient who has a bandage all over his head.

He then saves you and asks you to follow him.

You proceed to CRAWL SUPER SLOWLY. Seriously, why didn't he just help you to walk? He just waits for you to crawl like forever.

We then proceeded to crawl along the hallway and there were soldiers all around killing patients in the hospital and also all doctors and nurses.

As we proceeded to the lift, something strange happened. A weird being that floats and then summons a fiery monster appears! It then explodes!

We were slightly burned by it but your mysterious partner shot the fire sprinkler and the fire creature disappeared upon getting drenched.

It was a close call but we continued crawling and slightly crouching.

Of course, not having played the previous Metal Gear Solids, we're still wondering what that was all about? Is this game a supernatural game?

After awhile you miraculously find yourself walking again. Perhaps it took time to get your muscles to work seeing how you were in a coma for 9 years.

At least you're moving much faster now. The crawling part annoyed us a lot.

Keep on moving..

So this is how we looked like. We added a long goatee for him and made him look old. He was pretty much dying the whole way.

Needless to say we had more obstacles and soldiers started using tear gas.

We had to crawl again to avoid detection. We basically pretty much followed the other partner the whole way. They then started firing and killing all of the innocent patients.

This guy was shot but the soldier didn't spot us as we were hiding under the bed. A pretty suspenseful moment. Nice shoes.

A helicopter later came and started killing more innocent nurses and doctors. What's going on in this hospital?

We escaped momentarily through the stairways. There were soldiers above and below but we found a room filled with hospital staff and patients.

Everyone was wondering what was happening and whether they were safe here. Needless to say, soldiers came from both ends and started firing, killing all except the two of us. How convenient was that?

Conveniently there was a room in between and we barged into it. There were many curtains in it, similar to how a patients' room look like. The soldier started checking each curtain and killing all of those lying on the beds.

This guy was one of those who were killed.

We had to keep crawling from one partition to the next to avoid detection. We died a few times here as they shot us when they spotted us. We're guessing this is a stealth game?

Okay so we escaped from the room and came back to the hallway where all of them died.

The soldiers then started shooting the dead bodies so we had to play dead and very conveniently they stopped before shooting any of us.

As they discovered that we're still alive, the fiery being came again!

He basically roasted all of them with his sick flames!

He then proceeded to approach us but before he reached us our partner shot the fire sprinkler again and we were saved.

We ran to the stairways again and this time there were plenty of armed soldiers on the ground floor.

At least this time we had a pistol and we started shooting.

After killing all of the soldiers, more came in.

And guess what? The weird floating creature appeared again and he brings the fiery monster with him everywhere he goes.

However, more soldiers came in again and tried to kill it. However, the monster absorbs the bullets and explodes with those bullets, killing all of them.

A tank tried to kill it as well but failed.

We then ran away and right before the monster approached us, our partner rammed into it with an ambulance. We then escaped the place driving an ambulance!

As we were escaping there were flaming vehicles flying from the sky, probably caused by the monster.

Unfortunately our ambulance was destroyed by a helicopter and our partner is probably dead.

The weird floating thing appeared again, now bringing the fiery monster and it sits a freaking horse! How cool is that?

Someone new rescued us and he was sitting a horse as well. Apparently he was a team member from 9 years ago.

We proceeded to run away from the fiery horse but it chased us for sometime. We were given a shotgun to keep shooting at it.

We finally escaped the wretched creature when we reached an area that had a lot of rain.

The introduction story probably ends here, and you're taken on a ship ride, given a new arm and time to familiarize with the world after 9 years.

That's all for the introduction of this game!

Our first impression was that this game is pretty mysterious and it draws you in. You want to know who you are, why you're being hunted, why innocents were being killed, what the hell was that creature and what kind of game this will be.

There are plenty to learn and as we finished the introduction, we begun Chapter 1.
